Two men were arrested early yesterday in Salinas after police officers responded to a shot spotter activation on market way. One man was found with a loaded revolver (with 1 spent round), and an unloaded rifle in a backpack .....while the other was arrested for 2 outstanding warrants. Both men were booked into Monter ey County Jail.

Jose Daniel Perez Sentenced 03-31-21 08:09 S.S.

A gang member has been sentenced to spend 10 years in prison for trying to murder a rival gang member. That after Jose Daniel Perez and some other people drove into a Salinas residential area and Perez fired several rounds at his victim. Although the victim wasn’t hit, Perez later pleaded guilty to attempted murder and admitt ed an enhancement for gun use.

Woman Sentenced For Fatal 03-31-21 07:01 S.S.

A woman has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for 3 counts of gross vehicular manslaughter. That after Hilda Beatriz Valencia Flores was found guilty of driving under the influence when her car (which was in the wrong lane) hit another vehicle head-on on San Miguel Canyon Road in the Prunedale area in 2019. The driver of the vehicle hers hit suffered major injuries, and the 3 passengers suffered fatal injuries. A memorial still stands at the site of the may 2019 crash in which 58 year-old Marta Rangel Torres, 49 Year-Old Blanca Rangel, And 43 Year-Old Teresa Rangel lost their lives.

Santa Cruz and Alameda counties have moved into the Orange Tier. Napa county, which had been poised to move to Orange too, but recently had an uptick in cases, remains in the Red Tier. Monterey county is in the Red Tier, but could move to the Orange Tier April 7.
