Salinas High School F-Ball Cancelled-4/5/21-PMD

A Salinas high school football game has been cancelled. The game between Everett Alvarez High and Alis al High schools was postponed due to health and safety concerns. The game is expected to be rescheduled at a later date possibly as early as next week.

Monterey Rental Assistance-4/5/21-1655-PMD

A resource is now available for Monterey residents struggling to pay their rent. The Emergency Rental Assistance Program will help distribute 1.25 million dollars to low-income households that are suffering from a loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Monterey FD Vaccine Clinic-4/5/21-1652-PMD

A City of Monterey Fire Department is hosting a vaccination clinic on Wednesday to all eligible populations. This clini c is for Individuals age 50 and over, People with a high chance of exposure (specific industries: agriculture and food, education and childcare, emergency services), Individuals age 16 or older at higher risk (18 or older for this Moderna vaccine clinic). The clinic will be held at the Monterey Conference Center off Portola Plaza.

Soquel Fire Contained-4/5/21-1650-PMD

Fire crews are monitoring an extinguished blaze near Laurel Glen Road in Santa Cruz County. Firefighter s managed to keep the fire to a quarter-acre and are monitoring the site in case it re-ignites. The fire originally sparked on Laurel Glen Road near Mountain View Road and Soquel San Jose Road.

Sex Crime No Contest-4/5/21-1651-PMD

A Monterey County man entered a no contest plea on sexual assault charges. 21-year-old Arturo Murguia Rodriguez is all eged to have raped a 13-year-old girl in an industrial park near Salinas Road. A judge is expected to sentence Rodriguez in June to 15 years in the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
