STUDENTS  IN  ELEMENTARY  SCHOOLS  SERVING  CASTROVILLEECHO  VALLEYELKHORN AND  PRUNEDALE BEGAN  SCHOOL  TODAY,   ALONG  WITH  THEIR  MIDDLE  SCHOOL  COUNTERPARTS.     HOWEVER,  THE  HIGH  SCHOOL  STUDENTS  IN  NORTH  MONTEREY  COUNTY,  ALONG   WITH  STUDENTS  IN  THE  REST  OF  THE  MONTEREY  COUNTY  SCHOOL  DISTRICT  SCHOOLS,   PLAN  TO  START  THEIR  SCHOOL  YEAR  TOMORROW.

S.V. DUI CRASH/ARREST 08-09-10 10:30 a.v.

A Brookdale man was arrested yesterday afternoon on suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing his car in a ditch. A C-H-P officer responded to a report of a 4-runner weaving in and out of lanes at around 1 p.m. The officer spotted the vehicle on Graham Hill Road near Mount Hermon Road, and followed the vehicle as it traveled near the shoulder of the road, before the driver realized he was being pulled over. The driver reportedly did not notice the C-H-P officer, got distracted then drove into a ditch, causing the car to overturn.

K.C. VANDALISM 08-09-10 09:20 a.v.

Several vehicles from a King City business were vandalized after they were broken into over the weekend. A manager with Rio Farms reported the vandalism that occurred sometime between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday after someone broke the windows of 4-company owned trucks and carved the letters “FUUSA” in front of one of the vandalized vehicles. Monterey County sheriff’s deputies say that this is the 3rd report of vandalism at this location since the beginning of the year.

K.C. ROBBERY 08-09-10 09:00 a.v.

An investigation into a King City theft continues after Monterey County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a robbery yesterday. The victim claims an unknown man he was drinking a beer with, stole his gold necklaces from around his neck after punching him in the face. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction after the Lonoak Road robbery.

K.C. WEAPONS CHARGE ARREST 08-09-10 08:40 a.v.

A King City man was booked into Monterey County jail yesterday afternoon after weapons were found at his home. 19-year old Joseph Abraham Pineda was taken into custody when a search warrant was served at his Royal Drive home following an investigation conducted into a drive-by shooting earlier in the day. Deputies discovered a pair of brass knuckles and 12-gauge shotgun shells.
