CONGRESSMAN  SAM FARR IS  SCHEDULED  TO  HOLD  A  TOWN  HALL  MEETING  TOMORROW  IN  MONTEREY.      THIS  ONE  IS  SLATED  TO  BE   HELD, AT  THE  MONTEREY  INSTITUTE  OF INTERNATIONAL  STUDIES ON   PIERCE  STREET.       THE  6-8  P.M.  TOWN  HALL  MEETING  IS  SLATED  TO  BE HELD  IN  THE  INSTITUTE’S   IRVINE  AUDITORIUM.

WATSONVILLE CAR THEFT ARREST 08-11-10 10:30 a.v.

2 people were arrested on suspicion of breaking into cars yesterday in Watsonville. Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Wagner Avenue about a possible fight while cars were being broken into in the area. Officers were able to locate and detain 22-year old Gabriel Zamora and 24-year old Efren Zamora on multiple charges including vehicle tampering and petty theft. They 2 were booked into Santa Cruz County jail, while a juvenile suspect was cited and released to a family member.

WESTSIDE BANK ROBBERY - 08/11/10 17:30 S.S.

A  Westside  santa  cruz  bank  was  robbed  late  this  morning.  THE  11:30  A.M.  INCIDENT  OCCURRED  NEAR  THE  INTERSECTION  OF  MISSION  AND  DUFOUR.      THE  SUSPECT  WAS DESCRIBED  AS  A  MAN  IS  HIS  30’S.  ANYONE  WITH  ANY INFORMATION  ABOUT  THIS  BANK ROBBERY  OR  THE  SUSPECT  IS  ENCOURAGED  TO  CONTACT  THE  SANTA  CRUZ   POLICE  DEPARTMENT.

POLLACCI IN COURT TODAY 08-11-10 10:00 a.v.

Convicted rapist, Tom Pollacci is expected to appear in court today on 3 additional rape charges. The former Pacific Grove business man has already been sentenced to spend 8 years in prison for raping a woman in April of 2008. If convicted of the new charges, Pollacci faces 24 more years in prison for raping 2 other women.

ALISAL BILINGUAL EDUCATION PROTESTS 08-11-10 08:00 a.v.

Over a dozen people met yesterday morning at the alisal union school district to protest a plan for students to make an earlier exit to the bilingual program. Before, English learners made the transition to English-only instruction at the end of 3rd grade, the new changes will now affect students in the last trimester of 1st grade. The changes, which are expected to occur when Alisal begins it’s school year next week, comes as part of state-led efforts to improve the Alisal District as measured by the Academic Performance Index.
