Plans to partner up with 4 South Monterey Counties in an effort to battle the ongoing gang problem, are expected to be announced tomorrow. Officials announced today that the mayors of Soledad, Gonzales, Greenfield and King City will hold a press conference at 4 p.m. outside of Soledad City Hall at 248 Main Street. Mayors are expected to discuss the formation of the “4-Cities for Peace”, or 4-C-4-P Plan, a joint effort to address ways to reduce the violence and sustain peace inside the communities of South County.

Murder charges were officially dismissed yesterday in a Monterey County courtroom against Prunedale resident 33-year old Jesse Crow after he committed suicide in his jail cell over the weekend. Prosecutors also announced that charges will not be filed against the 3 accomplices who allegedly helped Crow dispose of his wife’s remains, since the 3 reportedly helped authorities build the case against Crow in exchange for immunity. Crow shot and killed his wife, 23-year old Ryann Bunnell Crow on January 30th after she threatened to expose Crow’s marijuana growing operation to police.

7 people were hospitalized after a head-on crash occurred this afternoon in Watsonville. The just before 1 p.m. collision took place on West Beach Street at Shell Road near Palm Beach State Park when a 15-year old Hollister girl was driving with her learners permit. The girl’s vehicle veered onto the shoulder of the road when she overcorrected the car and drove into oncoming traffic, hitting a Geo Prism. The driver of that car and his passenger, were airlifted to out-of-county trauma centers, meanwhile, the girl, her mother and 2 others suffered minor injuries. .

2 Santa Cruz men were arrested yesterday when they were pulled over for a routine traffic stop. 22-year old Saul Lopez Sanchez was stopped at 10:30 p.m. at Campbell and Barson Streets, and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and without a license, a warrant and transporting drugs. His passenger, 28-year old Javier Antonio Gomez Lozpez allegedly tried to hide heroin inside the vehicle, he was arrested on suspicion of transporting drugs.
