Funding has been secured to begin construction on a Hollister sewer plant solar project. Atherton-based Clearspot Energy had entered a deal with the city of Hollister to supply 1.2 megawatts of solar energy at the wastewater plant. Construction is scheduled to begin in September and be complete by the end of the year. The solar power project is expected to save taxpayers as much as 10 million dollars over the 30-year contract.

Hollister Police are looking for a convicted sex-offender, who is suspected of sexually assaulting a minor. 37-year-old Jason Ayala is already a registered sex-offender, and is now wanted for performing lewd and lascivious acts on a minor younger than 14. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, in connection with the crime that allegedly took place on August 9th. Jason Ayala is described as a 5-foot-7 Hispanic man, who weighs about 170 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to contact authorities.

Santa Cruz police officers have set up large floodlights outside city hall, to illuminate the on-going camping protest taking place there. Protestors have been sleeping on the lawn of city hall for about a week, as part of a protest that began on July 4th at the county building on Ocean Street. The floodlights were brought in Tuesday night, at a cost of about 1-hundred dollars a day. Several arrests and citations have been made at what has been called "Peace Camp 2010," including the arrest of a convicted child molester on Tuesday who had failed to check in with authorities. Participants are calling on Santa Cruz leaders to end the city’s ban on sleeping outside between 11 p.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Salinas Police are looking for 2-men, whom are suspected of robbing a South Pearl Street Business on Sunday. The owner of Tommy’s Glass shop noticed a van and several tools had been taken, and contacted authorities. He suspected a former employee was responsible, and police searched the man’s home on Monday. They allegedly found a 12-gage shotgun in his residence, along with some of the stolen tools. 31-year-old Darrell Haley was not home at the time, and is now wanted. Another suspect, 37-year-old Charles Goss, is also wanted in connection with the burglary, as well as a parole violation.
