THE POZO FIRE, BURNING IN NORTH-EASTERN SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY (NEAR HIGHWAY 58 AND SANTA MARGARITA) IS NOW 89 PERCENT CONTAINED. THE WILDFIRE, WHICH HAS THREATENED NO STRUCTURES SO FAR, HAS BURNED 11 HUNDRED 51 ACRES SINCE IT BEGAN AROUND 12:30 SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THE MORE THAN 850 PERSONNEL INVOLVED HOPE TO HAVE THE BRUSH FIRE CONTAINED BY WEDNESDAY.
DUE TO THE FIRE, LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAVE EVACUATED 5 AREA CAMPGROUNDS.

A man was air-lifted to Valley Medical Center with major injuries after crashing his motorcycle this morning in the Live Oak Area. The collision took place just before 5 a.m. when the driver of the motorcycle hit a pole at East Cliff Drive and 12th Avenue. Investigations continue into the cause of the accident.

A SANTA CRUZ MAN IN HIS 30'S HAS BEEN REPORTED "MISSING". THAT'S BECAUSE MICHAEL DiVERDE HAS NOT MADE CONTACT WITH HIS MOM IN OVER A MONTH, AND APPARENTLY THAT’S UNUSUAL (FOR THE 6 FOOT 2 INCH TALL MAN, WHO SUFFERS FROM BIPOLAR DISORDER). DiVERDE IS SAID TO HAVE WALKED AWAY FROM THE EL DORADO CENTER ON BROMMER STREET JULY 8TH, AND HAS NOT BEEN SEEN OR HEARD FROM SINCE.

A Carmel Valley winemaker was arrested last night after being charged with exhibiting a deadly weapon other than a firearm, public intoxication, and trespassing. 36-year old Stephan Kidder of Chateau Sinnet Winery, was intoxicated when he was found trespassing on business property interfering with business operations on the 100 block of East Carmel Valley Road at around 5:30 p.m. Kidder, who took out a spiked golf tee box marker when he was asked to leave the premises by an employee, was booked into Monterey County Jail.
