A BOULDER CREEK MAN HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR SETTING FIRE TO THE MOUNTAIN STORE SATURDAY NIGHT. 64 YEAR-OLD LARRY BOURDEAU WAS IN SANTA CRUZ COUNTY JAIL ON AN UNRELATED CHARGE WHEN HE WAS ARRESTED FOR ARSON. BOURDEAU WAS CAUGHT ON VIDEO SURVEILLANCE SETTING FIRE TO THE BULLETING BOARD AT THE STORE.
ABOUT 15 MINUTES AFTER BOURDEAU STARTED THE FIRE, 3 UNKNOWN TEENAGERS WERE SEEN PUTTING IT OUT. IF IT WEREN’T FOR THE TEENS, AUTHORITIES SAY THE STORE MAY WELL HAVE BEEN DESTROYED BY BOURDEAU’S FIRE.

P-G-and-E officials will hold a meeting today in Capitola in an effort to help answer questions and address concerns about SmartMeters. Today’s open house meeting follows several meetings held yesterday in Santa Cruz and Watsonville to discuss a possible moratorium on new SmartMeter installation. The Santa Cruz County Board of supervisors agreed to draft a SmartMeter ban in the unincorporated communities. Final consideration of the ban is scheduled for September 14th. Meanwhile, in Watsonville, the City Council approved the County’s first moratorium on SmartMeters. Today’s meeting will take place at 4 p.m. at 1955 41st Avenue in suite B-2 in Capitola.

A Salinas couple accused of selling their child for $25, is scheduled to appear in court today. 38-year old Patrick Fousek and girlfriend, 20-year old Samantha Tomasini have pleaded not guilty to child endangerment charges after trying to sell their 6-month old child outside of a Salinas Walmart store in June. The couple was also booked on charges of being under the influence of narcotics.
