SALINAS SHOOTING - 08/26/10 06:00 S.S.

A  34  YEAR-OLD  KNOWN  GANG  MEMBER  WAS  HOSPITALIZED  LAST  NIGHT.     THAT  AFTER  HE  WAS  SHOT  IN  THE  FACE,   WHILE  DRIVING  ON THE   700  BLOCK  OF  LEESE  DRIVE IN  SALINAS.     HE  WAS  DRIVING  A  BLUE  HONDA  AT  THE  TIME,  WHILE  THE  SHOOTER  WAS  IN A  BLACK  S.U.V..  THE  S.U.V.  REPORTEDLY  FOLLOWED  THE  HONDA  FOR  A  SHORT WHILE,  BEFORE  COMING  ALONGSIDE  SO  THE  SHOOTING  COULD  BE  ACCOMPLISHED.

MCO GREENHOUSE GAS REDUCTION 08-25-10 11:55 a.v.

Monterey Bay officials this week have committed to reducing per-capita greenhouse gas emissions of passenger vehicles by 5-percent over the next 25 years. On Monday night, the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments voted 16 to 6 to ensure 0-percent per-capita growth of greenhouse gas emissions through 2020 and also to decrease per capita emissions by 5-percent by 2035. AMBAG’S commitment, which is expected to be fulfilled through responsible transportation and growth policies, comes as state regulators seek to implement the state’s greenhouse gas regulations.

A  BILL,   THAT  WOULD  PROHIBIT  LANDLORDS  FROM  REQUIRING  TENANTS  TO  DECLAW OR  DEVOCALIZE THEIR  PETS  IN  ORDER  TO  MOVE  IN,  HAS  BEEN  APPROVED  BY  STATE  LEGISLATORS.    AB-2743 WILL  NOW  GO  TO  GOVERNOR  SCHWARZENEGGER.      IF  SIGNED INTO  LAW  BY  THE GOVERNOR,  LANDLORDS  WHO  DEMAND  THOSE PROCEDURES  WOULD  BE  FINED  1  THOUSAND  DOLLARS.

SAN SIMEON EARTHQUAKE 08-25-10 11:00 a.v.

A magnitude 3.8 earthquake was recorded near San Simeon this morning. According to the U.S.G.S., the quake’s epicenter hit about 12 miles North of San Simeon and 27 miles South of King City just around 10:20 a.m. No injuries or damages were reported.

MAN SOUGHT IN SALINAS - 08/25/10 17:53 S.S.

A  30  YEAR-OLD  MAN  IS  BEING  SOUGHT.     THAT  AFTER  OMAR  GONZALES  GUTIERREZ REPORTEDLY  TRIED  TO  RUN  OVER  HIS  EX-GIRLFRIEND  (AND  HER  CURRENT BOYFRIEND)  IN  EAST  SALINAS.       THE  6:15  A.M.  TUESDAY  MORNING  INCIDENT  OCCURRED  AT  THE  INTERSECTION  OF  KENTUCKY  AND  TOWT  STREETS.      GUTIERREZ IS  ALSO  WANTED  ON  A  MISDEMEANOR  WARRANT.
