2 MEN WHO GREW UP IN BOULDER CREEK DIED THIS WEEK. 30 year-old Nick Anthony Mitchell, and his younger brother 27 year-old Jimmy Stanley Rash IV, suffered fatal injuries in a motorcycle crash in Lake Park, Georgia. Jimmy, who visited Boulder Creek often after moving to Magalia (near Chico, California) after high school, reportedly moved to Georgia in July to be closer to his big brother. Jimmy’s 2 year-old daughter still resides in Magalia. Although the officials services for Jimmy Rash and Nick Mitchell will be held this weekend in Georgia, a memorial service will also be held this Sunday afternoon in a private home in Boulder Creek.

An agreement awaits final approval in Monterey County on the water supply’s impact on the area’s growth. Supervisors last night delayed a decision on how to consider water usage when approving new homes, shops and businesses. Concerns arose about allowing new wells to dip into aquifers that aren’t replenished as quickly as water is taken out. Supervisors will reconsider the water portion of the plan, which has been 11 years in the making, at their next meeting slated for September 21st. Board members, meanwhile, did agree that new construction should be delayed if builders can not prove access to a long-term water supply.
