THE SALINAS CALIFORNIAN NEWSPAPER IS REPORTING THAT THE ALISAL COMMUNITY SCHOOL IS ON LOCKDOWN. THIS IS REPORTEDLY IN RESPONSE TO A SHOOTING THAT TOOK PLACE ON WILLIAMS ROAD. A girl is in stable condition after being shot while she was asleep in her King City home over the weekend. The just after 3 a.m. Saturday shooting occurred in the 200 block of Oxford Avenue when someone fired several rounds at the home. The gunmen, who are still being sought, were last seen in a black vehicle headed southbound on Oxford Avenue toward Amherst Drive. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the King City Police Department.

Work begins today in Monterey to remove trees near the Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s Viejo substation. The 44 trees have been identified as potential hazards to substation equipment as well as a major threat to reliable service for customers in the Monterey area. The work is expected to take 2 weeks to complete.
