CABRILLO COLLEGE UNVEILS NEW HEALTH LAB 09-22-10 12:40 a.v.

A grand opening is slated Saturday for the new Cabrillo College Health and Wellness Complex. The announcement of the completion of the 28-million dollar project came this week after construction began in 2008. The Complex includes 2 buildings featuring the latest in instructional technology such as the state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab and Viewing Theater, advanced imaging technology for the Radiologic Technology Department, 16 Dental Hygiene stations and 5 dental x-ray stations. The grand opening takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 65-hundred Soquel Drive. Admission is free.

K.C. FATAL CRASH 09-22-10 12:20 a.v.

King City Police are investigating a fatal crash that forced the closure of a portion of highway-101 this morning. The 6:26 a.m. collision occurred when a Ford Expedition, traveling southbound, was carrying 5 people when it flipped over after hitting the center divide just south of 1st Street. One person was killed in the crash while three others were injured. The driver of the car that crashed fled the scene and has not yet been located. One lane of southbound Highway-101 reopened just after 9 a.m. Witnesses say there may have been a 2nd vehicle involved in the crash.

MONTEREY CHARTER SCHOOL PLAN APPROVED 09-22-10 11:40 a.v.

A preliminary plan to house a charter school in Monterey was approved yesterday. City officials unanimously voted to explore the possibility of housing a new charter school in several rooms of the Hilltop Park Center. The new school, to be called Bay View Academy, is being formed by parents of Bay View Elementary, and is expected to be proposed to officials of the Monterey Public Unified School District in the next 3 to 4 weeks.

MISSING MARINA BOYS FOUND SAFE 09-22-10 10:20 a.v.

As of this morning, 2 missing Marina boys have been found safe.   Police began searching for the brothers Daniel and Ryan Knox, ages 9 and 10, after receiving a call from their parents just before 8 p.m. last night that they were last seen yesterday at Marina Vista Elementary School.  The two showed up this morning at Marina Vista Elementary School at about 8 a.m. safe and unharmed.    Police, who initiated a reverse 9-1-1 call, and launched an all-out search for the brothers, are investigating the possibility that the boys spent the night at a friend’s house.

Mo.Co. Hillside Farming 09/22/10 0800 E.A.

Hillside farming in Monterey County has been tentatively approved by the Board of Supervisors. The board agreed to evaluate new agriculture on hillsides with more than a 25-percent slope on a case by case basis. The hearing is slated to continue on September 28th.
