A former campus supervisor at Harbor High School was taken into custody late yesterday in Mexico City. Alexander Napolean Reyes had been wanted by authorities for more than a decade, he was transferred to U.S. custody at 12:30 a.m. today(fri), and was booked into Santa Cruz County jail at 6:30 a.m. Reyes is accused of molesting as many as 5 teenage girls. He went missing before investigations were completed, and authorities are trying to locate the alleged victims to re-open the case. If convicted, Reyes faces at least 5-years in prison, and would be required to register as a sex offender. He is due in court early next week. Reyes was apprehended after U.S. Embassy officials noticed the outstanding warrant when he tried to renew his passport.

California Highway Patrol investigators are looking for at least 1-person who was involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident this morning(FRI) in South Monterey County. A pedestrian was hit and killed at 6 a.m., while crossing Cattleman Road, between King City and San Lucas. The driver of the black Nissan Altima fled the scene on foot, and another person may have been in the car, and also fled. They have not been located, and authorities have not released any information about the victim. Anyone with information about this fatal hit-and-run is encouraged to contact the CHP.

A memorial fund has been established to help the family of a santa cruz girl who died last week as a result of injuries she received in a car accident. Stacey Marie Hernandez succumbed to her injuries at an Iowa hospital last Wednesday. Stacey attended Harbor High and Hampton-Dumont High School. She worked at Country Inn and Suites as a housekeeper, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels programs, as well as the Food Bank of Santa Cruz County. She was an avid photographer, and her family described her as very artistic. Stacey Marie Hernandez was 18 years old. Santa Cruz County investigators are calling a shooting that killed 2 people in Santa Cruz last night a murder-suicide. Upon receiving a domestic disturbance report at around 11:15 p.m, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a Soquel home in the area of Lucca Lane and Soquel Drive and discovered 2 victims with gunshot wounds lying on the ground. One of the victims, identified as 61-year old James Baum was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other victim, 54-year old Gayle Mozee-Baum was alive at the scene but unresponsive, she was taken to Dominican Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The weapon was recovered at the scene.
