GILROY MAN ARRESTED - 092910 18:00 S.S.

A  30  YEAR-OLD  GILROY  MAN  HAS  BEEN  ARRESTED.   LAMAR  JAMES  LUCERO IS  ACCUSED  OF  HAVING  A  SEXUAL  RELATIONSHIP  WITH  A  16 YEAR-OLD  WATSONVILLE  GIRL.     LUCERO,  WHO  IS  SAID  TO  HAVE  MANIPULATED  AND  FORCED  HIS  VICTIM  TO  PERFORM  VARIOUS  SEX  ACTS,   FACES  POSSIBLE  CHARGES  OF  RAPEUNLAWFUL  SEXUAL  INTERCOURSE,  AND  OTHER  INAPPROPRIATE  INTERACTIONS.     HE  WAS  BOOKED  INTO SANTA  CRUZ  COUNTY  JAIL.

DZURO TURNED HIMSELF IN - 09/29/10 17:40 S.S.

A  MAN,   WHO  ALLEGEDLY  RAPED  A  WOMAN  AT  A  MOSS  LANDING  BUSINESS  EARLY  TUESDAY  MORNING,   HAS  BEEN  ARRESTED.    THAT  AFTER  ALEX  DZURO TURNED  HIMSELF  IN.     HE  HAS  BEEN  BOOKED  INTO  MONTEREY COUNTY  JAIL.      REPORTEDLY,   DZURO AND  THE  WOMAN  KNEW  EACH  OTHER  BEFORE  THE  EARLY  TUESDAY  MORNING  INCIDENT.

S.C. HALLOWEEN BUDGET INCREASED 09-29-10 11:00 a.v.

In an effort to reduce violence this year, Santa Cruz City council members approved extra funding to increase public safety on Halloween. The unanimous vote yesterday makes $60,000 available this year compared to the $40,000 utilized last year. The extra $20,000 will be given to the California Highway Patrol, who will be charging for it’s services this year for providing it’s officers as backup. Last year, 64 arrests were made and over 50-citations were issued, mostly related to alcohol use.

MOSS LANDING RAPE SUSPECT SOUGHT 09-29-10 08:55 a.v.

A suspect who broke into a Moss Landing business and raped a woman yesterday morning is being sought. Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for the suspect, 26-year old Alex Dzuro, who reportedly entered the Sandholt Road business through a rear window at around 3 a.m. Dzuro is described as a white male, about 6-feet-tall, weighing 150 pounds. Deputies say nothing was taken from the business or the victim.

BIG SUR VEGETATION FIRE 09-29-10 08:40 a.v.

Fire crews from Monterey County responded last night to a vegetation fire that broke out in Andrew Molera State Park. Nearly 70 fire fighters arrived to the park, which is about 13-miles north of Big Sur, to contain the 5 acre blaze. No structures wer threatened and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
