A 41-year old man was stabbed multiple times at a Seaside bar this week. Officers responded to the Sportsmen Bar at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday night after bar patrons said a man had been stabbed by another bar patron in the neck and stomach following a verbal altercation. The suspect, who was identified as 62-year old Austin Cepeda, was arrested on attempted murder charges. The victim, meanwhile, was treated at a local hospital for his wounds.

The city of Seaside has been selected as one of the host cities for the 2011 Amgen Tour of California. race organizers announced today that the bike race, which is slated to start at Lake Tahoe on May 15th, will end Thousand Oaks on May 22nd. Stage 5 of the race is scheduled for May 19th and starts in Seaside and ends in Paso Robles. The route is expected to go down the Pacific Coast Highway down through Big Sur. A prescribed burn that began this morning on the Former Fort Ord, is now complete. Roughly 110 acres burned today at Burn Unit 21. The Presidio of Monterey Fire Department is said to be monitoring the area, and the monitoring is expected to continue through tomorrow morning. A 2nd prescribed burn at Burn Unit 15 (about 167 acres) may take place tomorrow, weather permitting. THE VICTIM OF A FATAL SHOOTING LAST NIGHT IN SOLEDAD HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS VICTOR MARTINEZ. THE 5:30 P.M. INCIDENT OCCURRED AT THE INTERSECTION OF PALM AND 7TH STREETS WHEN AN UNKNOWN MAN SHOT MARTINEZ WHILE HE WAS SITTING IN A VAN.
