BODY IDENTIFIED IN TORCHED VEHICLE 10-14-10 17:40 a.v.

The identity of a woman whose body was found inside the trunk of a burning car over the weekend, has been identified as the owner of the car. The results of the autopsy were positively identified through dental records that the victim has been confirmed as Greenfield resident 22-year old Yvette Martinez. Martinez, who was reported missing Saturday, was found Sunday night when firefighters were called to the scene of the torched vehicle off Highway 198 between San Lucas and Coalinas in the Priest Valley area.

SALINAS JEWELRY STORE ARREST 10-14-10 17:20 a.v.

A Hollister woman was taken into custody today after the she was caught on surveillance video yesterday stealing thousands of dollars worth of diamond rings from a Salinas Jewelry store. 32-year old Stacie Gilbert was arrested this morning from her home on the 1,000 block of Homestead. Her husband, 31-year old Jason Carter confessed to his involvement in the crime as well as conspiracy. Both Gilbert and Carter were booked into Monterey County Jail on conspiracy, burglary, and grand theft. The stolen diamond rings were tracked down at a pawnshop, they were recovered and returned to the Jewelry Store.

SOLAR FARM APPROVED - 10/14/10 08:01 S.S.

IN  A   4-1  VOTE  SAN  BENITO  COUNTY  SUPERVISORS  HAVE  APPROVED  3  PRELIMINARY  STEPS  TOWARD THE  CONSTRUCTION  OF  SOLARGEN  ENERGY’S PANOCHE  VALLEY  SOLAR  FARM.     BOARD  MEMBERS  SUPPORTED  THE   FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL  IMPACT  REPORT,  THEY  AGREED  TO  CANCEL  12  WILLIAMSON  ACT  CONTRACTS (THAT  WOULD  HAVE  PREVENTED  THE  PROJECT  FROM  MOVING  FORWARD),  AND  THEY  APPROVED  A  NECESSARY  WATER  ASSESSMENT  STUDY.

 

THE  SAN  BENITO  COUNTY  PLANNING  COMMISSION IS  EXPECTED  TO  REVIEW  THE  PROJECT’S  USE  PERMIT  OCTOBER  20TH,    WHILE  COUNTY  SUPERVISORS ARE  EXPECTED  TO  REVIEW  THE  MORE  THAN   48-HUNDRED  ACRE  SOLAR  FARM OCTOBER  26TH.

NATURAL CAUSES - 10/14/10 07:53 S.S.

THE  SANTA  CRUZ  COUNTY  SHERIFF’S  CORONER  HAS  DETERMINED  THAT  A  WOMAN  WHO  WAS  FOUND  LYING  NEXT  TO  HIGHWAY  1 NORTH  OF  DAVENPORT LAST  FRIDAY  DIED  OF  NATURAL  CAUSES.       ALTHOUGH  THE  WOMAN’S  TORSO  WAS  COVERED  WITH  A  SHEET  WITH  ROCKS  HOLDING  IT  IN  PLACE  (WHICH  SHE  PROBABLY  COULD  NOT  HAVE  DONE  HERSELF),   THE  FACT  THAT  SHE  DIED  OF  NATURAL  CAUSES  HAS  LED  AUTHORITIES  TO  SAY  THEY  DO  NOT  BELIEVE  FOUL  PLAY  WAS  INVOLVED.

NEW BRIGHTON WILDFIRE - 10/14/10 07:46 S.S.

THE  CAUSE  OF  A  WILDFIRE,    THAT  BROKE  OUT LATE  TUESDAY  NIGHT  BEHIND  A  HOME  ON  NEW  BRIGHTON  ROAD IS  BEING  INVESTIGATED.      FIRE  CREWS  HAD  TO  USE  A  FIRE  ROAD  AT  NEW  BRIGHTON  STATE  BEACH TO  GET  TO THE  11:30  P.M.  BLAZE,   THAT   BURNED  ABOUT  HALF  AN  ACRE.      ANYONE  WITH  ANY  INFORMATION ABOUT  THIS  FIRE  IS  ENCOURAGED  TO  CONTACT  THEIR  LOCAL  FIRE  DEPARTMENT.
