New Leaf Market on Santa Cruz’s Westside was partially evacuated yesterday, after a gas leak was reported nearby. The leak of natural gas forced the store to close for about 90 minutes, and also led authorities to close a portion of Fair Avenue. Santa Cruz Firefighters initially responded to the 5:30 p.m. call, and confirmed the leak. PG and E crews had it repaired by 7 p.m., and the street was re-opened. No illnesses or injuries were reported in the incident.
