Investigations into the cause of a fatal incident are underway after a farm worker was killed outside Salinas this morning. Police say a lettuce truck backing up ran over and killed one person and injured another at Cooper and Blanco Roads at around 10:20 a.m. One of the farm workers died at the scene, meanwhile the other is being treated at a local hospital.

4 Central Coast volunteers were killed in a plane crash in Mexico last week. The volunteers with “Flying Samaritans”, were on a mission from San Luis Obispo to provide medical care to families in need in Baja California. The volunteers died Friday after their plane crashed about 30-miles outside Ensendada. On board the fatal crash was Doctor Graciela Sarmiento of Arroyo Grande, plastic surgeon, Doctor James Thornton, medic and Cal-Poly graduate Andrew Thiel, and pilot Roger Lyon of Cayucos. Funeral services are currently being planned by family members.

2 Salinas men have been arrested after a man was found stabbed multiple times over the weekend. Monterey County investigators determined that a kidnapping report made by one of the suspects, was false after the victim was found 5 hours later inside his car on a rural road in Southern Monterey County off Chualar Canyon Road. Deputies believe the victim was stabbed and was then left to die inside of his car. 29-year old Severino Arango Perez and 25-year old Domingo Perez were arrested on undisclosed charges.

A search warrant was served to a Gilroy home Friday morning suspected to be involved in drug sales. Several Norteno gang members were found in and around the Eigleberry home along with methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana inside the residence when the warrant was issued. A 10-month old child and a new born, also found in the home, were placed into protective custody. Several adults were arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail on narcotics related charges and outstanding warrants.
