Vehicle-theft arrests 10/24/10 TDH

3-men were arrested by Monterey Police on Sunday, whom are suspected of committing as many as 30 vehicle-robberies in Pacific Grove.   All 3-suspects are Seaside residents.   They were arrested after fleeing from police just before 4 p.m.   18-year-olds Manuel Rodriguez Hernandez, and Francis Geovanni Ruiz Perez, as well as 19-year-old Julio Cesar Rodriguez, were all booked into Monterey County Jail, for possession of stolen property.  Police say they found several GPS devices, and other stolen items, in the car that the suspects fled from.

Metro bus crash at Fishhook 10/22/10 5:45pm TDH

A santa cruz metro bus was involved in a collision this afternoon, near the fishhook interchange in santa cruz.   The bus and another car collided near the transition from highway-1 to highway-17, at around 4:30 p.m.   2-ambulances responded, and the fishhook was closed for about an hour.   The lanes re-opened just before 5:30pm.

Fatal Shark Attack, Santa Barbara Co. 10/22/10 5pm TDH

A fatal shark attack in santa Barbara county this morning claimed the life of a uc santa barbara student.  19-year-old Lucas Ransom was body boarding, at Surf Beach, which is off the coast off vandenburg airforce base in south santa Barbara county.   Ransom’s leg was bitten off, and the Riverside County resident died after being brought ashore by a nearby surfer.   Officials closed 3-beaches in the area, which are expected to remain closed through the weekend.  The last shark attack in the area occurred in 2008.

Suspect Arrested/Questioned, Martinez Murder 10/22/10 4:30pm TDH

A 29-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with the homicide of a Greenfield woman.  Noel Ledesma was arrested by U.S. Marshall agents last night, for a parole violation.   Ledesma has not yet been charged, but is described as a person of interest, in connection with the murder of Yvette Martinez.   Martinez’s body was found on October 9th in the trunk of her burning car, which was parked  on highway-198 in the priest valley area.

Fatal Accident, HWY-1, D.P. 10/22/10 4:15pm TDH

A fatal accident in davenport this afternoon resulted in one death, and two other people were hospitalized.   The wreck occurred on southbound highway-1 at 1:20 p.m.    One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and a child and another man were transported to Dominican Hospital.    Weather prevented an air ambulance from responding. Highway-1 lanes re-opened just after 4pm.
