LEWD BEHAVIOR IN S C - 10/27/10 18:15 S.S.

Santa Cruz police  officers  are  trying  to determine  if  two  incident  that  occurred  late  last  week  were  perpetrated  by  the  same  man.      At  6:45  p.m.  thursday,   a  man  made  lewd  comments  to  a  teenager,   after  conversing  with  her  briefly  near the  intersection  of  lincoln  street  and  walnut  avenue.       On  friday  at 5:15  p.m.,   a  25  year-old  woman  said  a  man  with  a  similar  description  made  lewd  comments  to  her,  while  she  was  walking  near  locust  and  chestnut  streets.

Anyone  with  any  information  about  either  incident,  or the  man  or  men  involved  is  encouraged  to  contact  the  Santa  Cruz  Police  Department.

NURSES LOCKED-OUT AFTER 24-HOUR STRIKE - 10/27/10 17:30 S.S.

Nurses  at  Watsonville  Community  Hospital,  (who  completed  their  24-HOUR  strike  this  morning)  say  they  were  barred  from  returning  to  work  this  morning.      Hospital administrators  say  the  nurses  will  be locked-out  until  Friday  morning,  when  the  temporary  staff  (administrrators hired  to  cover  the  strike)  will  be  released.       Nurses  plan  to  rally  at  noon  tomorrow   in  front  of  Watsonville  Community  Hospital.

NO BANK ROBBERY - 10/27/10 17:15 S.S.

IF  YOU  SAW  A  BUNCH  OF  POLICE  ACTIVITY  IN CAPITOLA  THIS AFTERNOON,  EVERYTHING’S  OK.      WHAT  WAS  ORIGINALLY  THOUGHT  TO  BE  A  BANK  ROBBERY  TURNED  OUT TO  BE  NOTHING.        A  SILENT  ALARM  WAS  TRIPPED  JUST  BEFORE  4  P.M.  AT  THE  BANK  OF  AMERICA BRANCH, THAT  IS  LOCATED  AT  THE  INTERSECTION  OF  41ST AVENUE AND  CAPITOLA  ROAD,   BUT  WHEN  LAW  ENFORCEMENT  OFFICERS  ARRIVED  THEY  DISCOVERED  THAT  NO  ROBBERY  HAD  OCCURRED.

SALINAS OVERPASS INCIDENT/ARREST - 10-27-10 16:01 a.v./S.S.

2 people are in custody, and an 18-year old is recovering,  after he was thrown off a Salinas overpass early this morning. Police say the 18-year old was walking northbound on North Main Street on the Highway 101 overpass around 1 a.m., when he was approached by 2 suspects. A fight ensued followed by the victim being thrown off the overpass.  He fell 22-feet from the top of the overpass prior to the ice plants below that are between the northbound on-ramp and traffic lanes of 101.   21-year old Ysidro Madrigal and 18-year old Juan Barajas were booked into Monterey County Jail.

’08 LOS GATOS MURDER CONVICTION 10-27-10 11:00 a.v.

3 men were convicted in a Santa Clara County courtroom yesterday for the murder of a Los Gatos man 2 years ago. Paul Garcia, Miguel Chaidez and Lucio Estrada were all found guilty of 1st degree murder in the 2008 death of 53-year old Mark Achilli, who was gunned down outside of Los Gatos town house. Garcia and Estrada face life in prison without the possibility of parole, Chaidez however may be eligible for parole in 25-years.
