10 Y/O MONTEREY RAPE CASE SOLVED 10-28-10 19:00 a.v.

A 10-year old Monterey rape and kidnapping case has been solved. Police say D-N-A evidence released this past August, identified a former Seaside man, 33-year old Adelfo Suarez Hernandez as the man who abducted and raped a 20-year old woman on November 14th of 2000. Hernandez, who has been serving a federal sentence in Pennsylvania and was slated to be released this month, was booked into Monterey County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping to commit robbery, rape, kidnapping and assault with intent to commit rape.

BATHING SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED IN S.C. 10-28-10 18:30 a.v.

A sex offender was found bathing in a sink inside the Santa Cruz Police Department today. Police say a father, who was at the police department on business, took his 2 small children to the bathroom in the lobby of the police department at around 3:25 p.m. yesterday and found the man, later identified as 53-year old Darrick Burch, bathing. Burch, who has 2 prior convictions of rape, was arrested for being out of compliance with registration. Burch, a transient, has recently been arrested for battery, DUI and drug possession.

WVILLE NURSES RALLY 10-28-10 17:00 a.v.

A rally took place this afternoon in front of Watsonville Community Hospital when over 100 nurses and others protested lagging contract negotiations and a lockout. Today’s rally follows a 24-hour strike that nurses held Tuesday when they walked off the job but then were turned away when they attempted to return to their shifts yesterday. Nurses, who say they want increased staffing to better care for patients, will return to work early tomorrow morning, when the hospital has said they will be re-admitted. According to the union, no talks are scheduled.

APTOS MAN ARRESTED - 10/28/10 08:26 S.S.

A  23  year-old  man  was  arrested  in  Santa  Cruz,  after  he  was  seen  using  a  marker  to  deface  windows  on  one  downtown  business,  and  urinating  on  another.     Grant  Spindler was  also  found  to be  in  possession  of  methamphetamines,  and  other  narcotics.      He  was  booked  into Santa  Cruz  County  Jail.

MAN SHOT IN SALINAS THIS MORNING - 10/28/10 08:59 S.S.

A  MAN  WAS  AIR-LIFTED  TO  A  TRAUMA  CENTER  THIS  MORNING.     THAT  AFTER  HE  WAS  SHOT  AROUND  7  A.M. THAT  INCIDENT  OCCURRED  NEAR  THE  INTERSECTION  OF  SUNRISE  AND  GARNER  AVENUES IN  SALINAS.     ANYONE WITH  ANY  INFORMATION  ABOUT  THIS  SHOOTING  IS ENCOURAGED  TO  CONTACT  THE  SALINAS  POLICE  DEPARTMENT.
