SOLEDAD CAR CHASE MISSING DRIVER 11-11-10 18:00 a.v.

Police are searching for a man who abandoned his car after leading officers on a high speed chase that ended in Soledad this afternoon. The 2 p.m. incident occurred when police tried to pull the suspect over on Highway 146 when the driver sped away reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour while traveling eastbound on Elm Avenue and then northbound on Metz Road. The man’s vehicle was found near one of the vineyards in Soledad near Highway 146, the driver, however is still being sought.

Morgan Hill Emerald 11/11/10 0800 E.A.

A Morgan Hill man says he was swindled out of an 840-pound emerald. Anthony Thomas says that he purchased the Bahia Emerald for 60-thousand dollars from a group he had purchased other stones from. Thomas believes that the sellers lied and told him the stone was stolen when they learned of its true value. A trial is currently underway in a Los Angeles courtroom to determine the true owner of the emerald. An often-quoted appraisal puts the value of the stone at nearly 400-million dollars.

Panoche Valley Solar Farm 11/11/10 0700 E.A.

The construction of a solar farm in Panoche Valley can now move forward. At the San Benito County Board of Supervisors meeting on Wednesday, an appeal of the project by environmental groups was denied, and a development agreement between the county and Solargen Energy was unanimously approved. The nearly 400-megawatt solar facility is expected to bring a large number of construction jobs, and up to 50 full time jobs once completed.

A  26  YEAR-OLD  SANTA  CRUZ  MAN  SUFFERED  ONLY  MINOR  INJURIES  THIS  WEEK.      THAT AFTER  ANTONIO  YANEZ LOST  CONTROL  OF  HIS  VEHICLE  ON  SOUTHBOUND  HIGHWAY  17,   AND  IT  HIT  THE  EMBANKMENT  AND  ROLLED  OVER  NEAR  THE FISHHOOK.      WET  ROADS  (AND  RAIN)  ARE  THOUGHT  TO  HAVE  BEEN  AT  LEAST  PART  OF  THE  CAUSE  OF  THE  10:45  P.M.  TUESDAY  NIGHT  CRASH.

MAN ARRESTED FOR METH - 11/11/10 08:48 S.S.

A  27  YEAR-OLD  MAN  WAS  ARRESTED  EARLY  THIS  MORNING.      THAT  AFTER  METHAMPHETAMINE  WAS  FOUND  IN  LUIS  MIGUEL  LOPEZ  RAMIREZ’S VEHICLE  JUST  OUTSIDE  SALINAS.       THE  SHORTLY  BEFORE  2  A.M.  ARREST  WAS  MADE  ON  SAN  JUAN  GRADE  ROAD AT  STIRLING  ROAD.       RAMIREZ WAS  BOOKED  INTO  MONTEREY  COUNTY  JAIL.
