Friday election update 11/12/10 5PM TDH

Santa cruz city councilman greg caput’s victory in the election for santa cruz county supervisor, is all but certified.  An updated tally including more than 20-thousand mail-in-ballots was announced by local elections officials this afternoon.  While caput’s lead over incumbent tony campos shrank to just 148-votes, the difference is expected to stand.   The new tally also suggests that daniel dodge and eduardo montesino have indeed won their elections for watsonville city council, and in the race for pajaro valley school board, leslie de rosa, willie yahiro, and kimberly de serpa maintained their advantages.  One more update on the un-official numbers is expected to be made on november 22nd, before the results are certified on november 30th.

The formation of the Salinas Historic Resources Board was approved at the city council meeting on Tuesday. The team includes local historians, architects, designers and other professionals. The creation of this board is the first step in obtaining “certified local government” status for the city, which would allow the city to apply for grants through the state Office of Historic Preservation.
