DRUNK DRIVER GOES TO PRISON - 11/15/10 17:30 RB

A PACIFIC GROVE LOCAL HAS PLEADED GUILTY TO DRIVING DRUNK, AND WAS SENTENCED TO 2 YEARS IN PRISON. 29 YEAR-OLD DUKE KELSO WAS FOUND PASSED OUT INSIDE HIS CAR ON BUENA VISTA AVENUE LAST SUMMER, AFTER ENDANGERING SEVERAL CHILDREN THAT HAD BEEN PLAYING ON THE STREET. KELSO HAD A BLOOD ALCOHOL LEVEL OF .37, (OVER 4 TIMES THE LEGAL LIMIT), AND THAT MARKS HIS 4TH CONVICTION FOR DRINKING AND DRIVING.

VAN BURNED, TWO KILLED 11/15/10 16:45 RB

TWO DEAD BODIES WERE FOUND INSIDE A BURNING VAN OFF OF HIGHWAY 152 NEAR DINOSAUR POINT ROAD EARLY THIS MORNING. CAL-FIRE UNCOVERED THE BODIES WHILE EXTINGUISHING THE FULLY ENGULFED VAN AT 3:30 AM. THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT HAS NOT RELEASED MUCH INFORMATION YET, ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE SAID THAT THERE ARE NO SIGNS THE VAN WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH PRIOR TO THE BLAZE THAT ENSUED.

S.C. Hit and Run 11/15/10 0930 E.A.

Information is being sought on a hit-and-run that occurred on Friday in Santa cruz.  Around 11 p.m. a white pick-up truck made a left-hand turn onto Soquel Avenue from 7th avenue and knocked down a pedestrian.  after the pedestrian was knocked down, her left arm was run over by the truck.  The victim was treated for her injuries at an area hospital.  Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact the California Highway Patrol.

Greenfield carjack kidnap 11/15/10 0900 E.A.

a Greenfield man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and carjacking.  32-year-old Gabriel Vincent Tarango got into another man’s truck in Soledad and told the driver he would kill him if he did not drive Tarango to King City.  Tarango was arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail.

Watsonville Wetlands 11/15/10 0830 E.A.

certified-green businesses toured the West Branch Slough and Fitz Wetlands Educational Resource Center at event held saturday.  The tour was part of a new INITIATIVE to expand local partnerships with the resource center, and also to highlight the center’s programs.   The non-profit Watsonville Wetlands Watch, hopes that events such as the tour held over the weekend will build more ties with the community.
