S J MAN DIED MONDAY - 11/16/10 18:17 S.S.

A  swimmer,   who  died  after  being  pulled  from   the  ocean  at  Moran  Lake  Beach  near Pleasure Point  yesterday,   has  been  identified.    Although  bystanders  went  to  his  rescue  (after  they  saw  him  signal  in  distress),  and  he  was  still conscious  and  breathing  when  rescuers  got  to  him,   47  year-old  San  Jose  resident   Frank Gairnese succumbed  a  short  time  later.    

The cause of  his  death  has  not  yet  been  determined.

300 mature plants found - 11/16/10 17:54 S.S.

300  mature  marijuana  plants  were  found  inside  a  gilroy  home,   after  firefighters  responded  to  a  blaze  at  nearby  home.     that  after  a  spliced  electrical  meter  was  found   at  the  burning  home.       firefighters  followed  the  wires  to  the  home  in  which  they  found  a  “clandestine  indoor  marijuana  cultivation  operation”.     

when  indoor  marijuana  growers  splice  into  another  property’s  utility  meter,   the  expense  of  the  grow   is  generally  passed  on  to  that  “neighbor”.

A  MOSS-LANDING  BASED  AGENCY  HAS  UN-COLLARED  1  YOUNG  SEAGULL,  BUT  SEVERAL  MORE  BIRDS  STILL  HAVE  BUDWEISER  BEER  CAN  COLLARS  WRAPPED  AROUND  THEIR  NECKS.       WildRescue   SAYS  (DUE  TO  SOME  FOLKS  IN  THE  BEER  INDUSTRY)  THE   REWARD  (BEING  OFFERED  FOR  INFORMATION  THAT  LEADS  TO  THE  ARREST  AND  CONVICTION  OF  THE  PERSON  COLLARING  THE GULLS)  HAS  INCREASED  TO  6  THOUSAND  DOLLARS.   WILDRESCUE  ASKS  THAT  ANYONE  WHO  SEES  ANY  OF  THE  COLLARED  GULLS  E-MAIL  THEM  AT:

LIVE OAK MAN ACQUITTED - 11/16/10 16:59 S.S.

A  live  oak  man  has  been  acquitted.      37  year-old  Thomas  Froberg  had  been  charged  with  fighting  with  members  of  the  Hells  Angels   motorcycle  club.     Froberg   could  have   faced  prison  time  IF  the  jury  had  not  found  Froberg  Not  Guilty.

DECOMPOSED REMAINS ID'd - 111610 16:00 S.S.

THE  DECOMPOSED  HUMAN  REMAINS,   FOUND  EARLIER  THIS  MONTH  IN  A  REMOTE  AREA  OF  THE  POGONIP,   HAVE  BEEN  IDENTIFIED.      The  SANTA  CRUZ  COUNTY  CORONER SAYS  THEY  WERE  THOSE  OF  34  YEAR-OLD  MICHAEL  DiVERDE,  (WHO  HAD  BEEN  MISSING  SINCE  EARLY  JULY)  WHEN   HE  LEFT  A  LIVE  OAK  MENTAL  HEALTH  FACILITY.       DiVERDE WAS  ORIGINALLY  FROM  MOUNTAIN  VIEW.
