TEEN INJURED THIS MORNING - 02/07/11 17:54 S.S.

A  17  YEAR-OLD  GIRL  SUFFERED  MAJOR  INJURIES  THIS  MORNING  IN  A  WATSONVILLE-AREA  CRASH.       THE  8:40  A.M.  SOLO  VEHICLE  ACCIDENT  OCCURRED  WHEN  THE  GIRL  LOST  CONTROL  OF  HER  VEHICLE  ON  CASSERLY  ROAD,   AND  HER  CAR  HIT  A  BRIDGE  ABUTMENT  (NOT  FAR  FROM  THE  CASSERLY  PAR  3  GOLF  COURSE, AND  SMITH  ROAD.       SHE  WAS  AIR-LIFTED  TO  SANTA  CLARA  VALLEY  MEDICAL  CENTER.

BURNED REMAINS IDENTIFIED - not owner of car - 02/07/11 17:53 S.S.

THE  REMAINS  OF   A   BODY  FOUND  IN  the  TRUNK OF  A  BURNING  CAR  LAST  NIGHT  IN  SALINAS  HAVE  BEEN  IDENTIFIED,  AND  THEY  DO  NOT BELONG  TO  THE  OWNER  OF  THE  VOLKSWAGEN  BUG.    THE  CAR  WAS FOUND  ON  NATIVIDAD  ROAD,   FULLY  ENGULFED  IN  FLAMES.   ANYONE  WITH  ANY  INFORMATION  ABOUT  THIS  CASE  IS  ENCOURAGED  TO  CONTACT  THE  SALINAS  POLICE  DEPARTMENT.

NEW SIGNS AT KIRBY PARK 02-07-11 12:30 a.v.

New interpretive signs have been added to an area designated as a boat launch dock in North Monterey County in an effort to describe the various habitat life in the Elkhorn Slough. The new signs are also designed to reflect on-going restoration work in the slough, which includes the construction of a new dock at Kirby Park and improvements of the parking area to be completed later this spring.

GILROY CHICO MURDER SUSPECTS ARREST 02-07-11 10:00 a.v.

The suspects identified in a Chico murder were arrested in Gilroy over the weekend. 19-year old Antonio Linarez-Montes and 18-year old Timothy Nunez were inside a Monterey Road home for 3 hours on Saturday before a SWAT team took them into custody without incident. Both Montes and Nunez were arrested for murdering Jose Sanchez on February 2nd after his body was found under a bridge in Chico a day before he was reported missing.

BONNY DOON HEAD ON COLLISION 02-07-11 09:00 a.v.

Investigations continue into a collision that caused 4 people to suffer injuries over the weekend in Santa Cruz County. The just after 9 p.m. Saturday head-on crash involved a sedan and mid sized truck on Empire Grade Road just north of Smith Grade in Bonny Doon. 2 people were airlifted to an out-of-county trauma center and 2 others suffered minor injuries. C-H-P officers believe the wreck occurred after one car was trying to pass the other.
