GILROY HOME INVASION - 01/12/11 17:28 S.S.

3  MEN  ARE  BEING  SOUGHT  IN  CONNECTION  WITH  LAST  NIGHT’S  GILROY  HOME  INVASION.    THAT  AFTER  A  32  YEAR-OLD  MAN  WAS  TRANSPORTED  TO  A  BAY  AREA  HOSPITAL,   AFTER  BEING  INJURED  IN  THE  11  P.M.  INCIDENT,    THAT  OCCURRED  ON  THE  72  HUNDRED  BLOCK OF  CHURCH  STREET.    2  CHILDREN  THAT WERE  AT  THE  HOME  DURING THE  INCIDENT  WERE  NOT  INJURED.

 

THE  SUSPECTS, ONE  OF  WHOM  WORE  A  HALLOWEEN  MASK,    WERE  ARMED  WITH  A  SAWED-OFF  RIFLE  OR  SHOTGUN,  AS  WELL  AS  A  CROWBAR.

HWY 68 SHOPPING CTR PROPOSAL FAILS 1-12-11 13:00 a.v.

During a meeting with Monterey County Planning Commissioners today, a proposal to build a shopping center failed after a vote ended in a tie. Commissioners voted 5 to 5 on the new shopping center planned along Highway 68 and Corral de Tierra Road. The proposed 126,000 square foot shopping center, known as Corral de Tierra Shopping Village, would have included a grocery store with 500 parking spaces.

S.J. NIGHTCLUB FATAL SHOOTING 1-12-11 12:00 a.v.

Police in San Jose are searching for several suspects after 3 men suffered fatal gunshot wounds at a nightclub over the weekend. 3 armed men walked into the Oakland Road nightclub shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday. 2 of the 3 men identified as 31-year old Antonio Allon and 29-year old Manuel Barraza, both of Salinas, were fatally shot, along with 26-year old Manuel Morales. Police say a 4th man, later identified as 32-year old Hector Milla of Salinas and a 3rd man, who has not been identified, are still being sought. Anyone with information, is asked to contact the San Jose Police Department.

FREEDOM BLVD CAR CRASH/ROAD CLOSURE 1-12-11 10:30 a.v.

Multiple roads in Santa Cruz County are closed after a car struck a power pole early this morning. The driver of a blazer struck the pole on the corner of Freedom Boulevard and Bowker Road at around 1 a.m., then crashed into a fence, before landing in a yard at a home on Bowker Road. The sheered power pole fell into another power pole causing a power outage affecting 926 customers initially. The vehicle, a tree, and part of the home caught fire as a result of the accident. Residents of the home were evacuated and the fire was quickly extinguished. P-G-and-E and A-T-and-T are on the scene working to re-erect the downed power poles. Meanwhile, Freedom Boulevard at Bowker Road remains closed. Freedom Boulevard from Buena Vista Road to Corralitos Road are also closed, and Bowker Road is closed north of Calabasas Road.
