WVILLE BANK ROBBERY 12-17-10 10:10 a.v.

Police in Watsonville are investigating a bank robbery that happened yesterday. The incident occurred on the 1500 block of Freedom Boulevard when 2 men, 1 armed with a gun, were seen walking into the Wells Fargo Bank just after 5:30 p.m. The men were said to have left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Watsonville Police Department.

CA. APPROVES GREEN INCENTIVES 12-17-10 10:00 a.v.

State regulators approved a plan yesterday which would provide financial incentives for certain companies to emit fewer greenhouse gases. The Air Resources Board voted 9-to-1 to pass Assembly Bill 32, California’s 2006 Climate Law, with the hopes of encouraging other states to follow suite. State officials also are discussing plans to link the new system with similar ones under way or being planned in Canada, Europe and Asia. The board began hearing testimony yesterday and are expected to vote on the regulations today.

SCOTTS VALLEY CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FAILED TO COME TO A DECISION AT THEIR MEETING LAST NIGHT ON WHETHER TO APPROVE A PROPOSED SCOTTS VALLEY DRIVE DEVELOPMENT. THE PROPOSED WOODSIDE AT SCOTTS VALLEY WOULD INCLUDE 18-THOUSAND SQUARE FEET OF COMMERCIAL SPACE AND 51 DETATCHED HOMES. THE CITY COUNCIL FAILED TO TAKE A VOTE BY THE END OF THURSDAY'S MEETING, SO A VOTE IS SLATED FOR WHEN THE COUNCIL RECONVENES.

GRAFFITI TAGGER SENTENCED 12/17/10 0730 E.A.

A SOQUEL AREA GRAFFITI TAGGER WAS SENTENCED ON THURSDAY. 18 YEAR-OLD NATHAN TYLER DICKENSON WAS ORDERED TO STAY AWAY FROM CUMMINGS PARK, A BRIDGE NEAR HIGHWAY 1 IN APTOS, AND RAILROAD TRACKS IN THE AREA. DICKINSON IS ALSO EXPECTED TO START WORK ON A GRAFFITI REMOVAL TEAM AS PART OF HIS SENTENCE. DICKENSON WAS CONVICTED ON OCTOBER 21ST ON A FELONY CHARGE OF VANDALISM AND 3 MISDEMEANOR CHARGES OF VANDALISM.

ALISAL SHOOTING UPDATE 12/17/10 0600 E.A.

SALINAS POLICE OFFICERS ARE STILL SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS INVOLVED WITH A SHOOTING NEAR ALISAL HIGH SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY. A 15-YEAR-OLD BOY WAS SHOT IN THE NECK WHEN HE WAS WALKING ON MONTE BELLA BOULEVARD AND TUSCANY BOULEVARD. THE SUSPECTS WERE SEEN RUNNING TOWARDS FREEDOM PARKWAY. ANYONE WITH ANY INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE SALINAS POLICE DEPARTMENT.
