Stay-At-Home - 5 Ca Regions 12-03-20A 14:00 S.S.

In regions where intensive care unit capacity falls below the threshold, the new Stay-At-Home order will bar nonessential gatherings and require people to stay at home (as much as possible) to avoid transmitting the virus. It will allow people to continue with essential activities such as going to the doctor, buying groceries, and picking up takeout. It also allows distanced outdoor exercise, like hiking, and outdoor religious ceremonies.

Retail will be allowed to operate in those areas at 20% capacity. Schools that have already reopened for in-person classes can remain open.

All playgrounds, indoor recreation, salons, museums, zoos, aquariums, movie theaters, wineries, bars, casinos, live-audience sports and amusement parks must close in regions subject to the order.

Once a region falls under the intensive care unit threshold, it will have two days to comply with the order and must follow the new rules for at least 3 weeks.

THE BREAKDOWN OF THE 5 REGIONS IS AS FOLLOWS:

  • Greater Sacramento: Alpine, Amador, Butte, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo, Yuba
  • San Joaquin Valley: Calaveras, Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, San Benito, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tulare, Tuolumne
  • Northern California: Del Norte, Glenn, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Mendocino, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity
  • Bay Area: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma
  • Southern California: Imperial, Inyo, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura

Newsom With New Stay-at-Home Order 12-03-20 15:47 DC

California Gov. Gavin Newsom said today (Thursday) that he will impose a new stay-at-home order for areas where empty capacity at intensive care units falls below 15%.

Newsom announced the new plans amid a surge of new coronavirus cases and fears that hospitals could be overwhelmed within weeks.

The new order divides the state into five regions. Newsom said none of the regions currently meet the threshold for the new rules.

Monterey and Santa Cruz County are in the Bay Area region, which is expected to reach the threshold in mid-to late-December, and San Benito County is in the San Joaquin Valley region, which is expected to meet the threshold potentially in the next few days.

When they do, the state will order them to close hair salons and barber shops, limit retail stores to 20% capacity and only allow restaurants to offer take-out and delivery.

The rules don’t apply to school districts.

SC Jail Officers Positive for COVID-19 12-03-20 15:36 DC

Several correctional officers at the Santa Cruz County Jail, all of whom tested positive for COVID-19, had attended a large gathering together.

Contact tracers say they are investigating the gathering as the possible source of the COVID-19 outbreak among jail staff.

The party took place early last week, and later in the week, several correctional officers who attended that party started showing COVID-19 symptoms.

Jail officials say 10 correctional officers have caught the virus and seven more are in quarantine to avoid close contact.

All jail staff and inmates were tested for COVID-19. A Sheriff's Office spokesperson says all results are expected by the end of the week.
