With Santa Cruz libraries closed, a local couple is taking a bold step and opening a new bookstore.
“two birds books” will open its doors today in a time when many business’ are closing during the pandemic. Gary Butler and Denise Silva say they’ve received an abundance of support from the community as so many bookstores around town have closed due to digital media.
Two birds books is located on 41st Avenue.

Santa Cruz county health officials are expecting the first shipment of the Covid 19 vaccinaiton as early as next week.
In short, the county will follow the reccomendation of the state when it comes to distribution of the highly anticipated vaccine. Health officials will implement a phased and tiered approach that includes hospitals and first responders as a first priority.
Eventually, the county would like to provide mass vaccinations at locations like pop-ups and drive throughs but no sites have yet been designated.

There’s been an increase in the thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles in the tri-county area lately, and earlier today 3 Bakersfield people were arrested in Hollister after 1 of them removed at least 1 catalytic converter from a vehicle there. The 2 men and 1 woman were found with cutting tools visible in the vehicle they were in.....and 2 recently removed catalytic converters, as well as some methamphetamine.

A Seaside couple has been found guilty of not only assaulting a man, but doing so with enough force to break his jaw and cause a number of other facial fractures. 49 year-old Noah Boewer faces a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison, while his 38 year-old wife Tricia, faces a maximum of 6 months in jail on a battery charge. They are scheduled to be sentenced in a Monterey county court room January 6th for their attack on a man outside the Monterey Lanes Bowling Alley in 2018.
