Car Hits COVID-19 Tent at Salinas Valley Mem Hosp 12-16-20 00:46 DC

A car, apparently driven by an elderly driver, Tuesday night crashed into a COVID-19 triage tent outside Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. Spokeswoman Karina Rusk said two employees were involved, but there were no major injuries.

Rusk added that the crash created no immediate threat of COVID-19 exposure.

Police say the 75-year old's driver’s license was taken.

The tent is next to the Emergency Room entrance.

Rusk says the hospital is also suspending their drive-thru COVID-19 testing, due to the crash.

Santa Cruz County – Not Yet 12-15-20 10:01 S.S.

Although Santa Cruz county has so far not had I.C.U. bed capacity drop below 15 percent, that is expected to happen soon. When the capacity decreases to that point, it will trigger the state’s mandated Stay-At-Home Order, which will go into effect within 24 hours, so many businesses around the county are awaiting that word. Santa Cruz County Deputy Health Officer Doctor David Ghilarducci said there’s been a 20 percent jump in the number of Covid-19 cases recently, and they are most likely due to people gathering for Thanksgiving.
