Hazel Hawkins Hospital 12-29-20 07:40 S.S.

A  increase  in  the  number  of  patients  with  Covid-19  has  forced  a  tri-county  area  hospital administrators  to  set  up  an  “overflow”  tent  outside Their  Emergency  Room  to  care  for  patients.    They  currently  have  37  patients,  20  of  whom  have  Covid-19.     To  provide  needs  in  the  new  overflow  space,  hospital  administrators  have  borrowed  beds  from  neighboring  nursing  care  facilities.

UPDATE – CENTRAL COAST COVID-19 #s 12-29-20 07:28 S.S.

Covid-19  numbers  in the  tri-county  area  include:


Monterey  county –   179  hospitalized,  37 in the I.C.U.,  186  have  died.

 

Santa  Cruz  county –  70 hospitalized,  17 in the I.C.U.,   83  have  died.

 

San Benito  county -   16 hospitalized,   4  in  the I.C.U.,  28  have  died.

Cal Fire Covid Vaccines-12/28/20-1837-PMD

Cal Fire has started inoculating its San Benito County employees. The Cal Fire fighters are being inoculated courtesy of the San Benito County Public Health Services. The Hollister Fire Department also began receiving vaccines. The vaccinations are part of the states 1a phase of inoculations.

Sub Teacher Shortage-12/28/20-1754-PMD

As public schools prepare to reopen following the implementation of covid 19 vaccines substitute teachers are becoming more scarce. The severe shortage of substitutes is making it challenging for districts to reopen schools. In recent years there has been a shortage of substitutes. This year there has been a notable decline of substitute applications as well as renewals of current credentials.

SC Co Covid Death-12/28/20-1728-PMD

A Santa Cruz County woman reported to be in her thirties has officially died of Covid 19. Yesterday (Mon) data released by the county said the woman died on December 17th with no other underlying health issues. Previously the youngest reported death in the county was a man in his forties with at least one major underlying health condition that contributed to his death.
