PVWMA Approves Water Conservation 01-06-21 07:05 S.S.

A  new  1.2  million  dollar  water  conservation  program  has  been  approved  by  the  board  of  directors  for  the  Pajaro  Valley  Water  Management  Agency.   That’s  in  an  effort  to  get  Pajaro  Valley  farmers  to continue  to   use  water  more  efficiently  so  the  agency  can  continue  to  work  toward achieving  groundwater  sustainability.   As  part  of  this  new  program,  P.V.  Water  is  increasing incentives  for  farmers  (to  modify  their  irrigation practices, to  become  more   resource-efficient  at  a  faster rate).

Missing Salinas Man 01-06-21 04:27 S.S.

A Salinas man has been reported missing.  29 year-old Saul Venegas was last seen (or heard from) by family and friends when he left his home November 10th at 6:30 p.m.   He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and brown boots.   Anyone with information on Venegas' whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Salinas Police Department.

Live Oak Preschool Reopens 01-06-21 03:54 DC

Noah's Ark Preschool and Day Care In Santa Cruz County, has reopened after the site shut-down for about two weeks after a COVID-19 outbreak.

The privately-owned, Noah's Ark Preschool, in Live Oak was forced to shut down after COVID-19 was discovered back in December. They reopened Monday.

Three adults who work at the preschool were infected with COVID-19. None of the children contracted the virus.

$2,000 Theft from Watsonville HS 01-05-20 17:15 DC

Police say they have recovered over $2,000 worth of stolen equipment from Watsonville High School. The items were taken during a New Year’s Eve burglary. Two alert residents were able to help officers identify and arrest the suspect, Michael Mortimer.

Mortimer, a 27-year-old man, was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on felony burglary, possession of stolen property, probation violation and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.
