s.c. grand jury report 06/27/11 0600 e.a.

hollister chase 06/27/11 0600 e.a.

two salinas men were arrested in downtown hollister last week after allegedly trying to exchange 2 stolen checks for cash.  31-year-old juan mogo-vicente and 27-year-old alvaro luna are accused of attempting to pass checks stolen from big valley labor in king city.  after a short foot chase the two were arrested by hollister police on charges of burglary, POSSESSION of a stolen check and resisting arrest.

sbc bronc rider injured 06/27/11 0600 e.a.

a bronc rider at the san benito county saddle horse show and rodeo was injured on sunday after a horse fell on him.  bronc rider john flook was PERFORMING during a special event when the bronc kicked hard and fell back on top of him.  flook was treated in an ambulance, his status is unclear.

Sjb city manager interviews 06/26/11 TDH

The san juan bautista city council is scheduled to conduct interviews tomorrow (tues) with 5-candidates for the city’s interim-city manager position.  the-5 were selected out of a pool of 18-applicants, who lobbied for the job following the resignation of city-manager steven julian last month.   The position pays 85-thousand dollars a year (plus benefits).

Cal-train rate increases 06/26/11 TDH

Cal-train officials have announced that fares on commuter trains will increase, starting july 1st.   the base fare for riders from the Monterey peninsula area is set to go up by 25-cents.  In addition to that, the daily parking fee is also set to go up by 4-dollars, and the monthly parking fee will increase by 40-dollars.   The rate increases were approved after a plan to close as many as 10-stations was rejected.
