FIRE IN BIG SUR - 12/16/13 10:15 update S.S.

ABOUT 300  FIRE  FIGHTERS   ARE  WORKING  TO  CONTAIN  A  WILDFIRE  THAT  BROKE  OUT  EARLY THIS MORNING  IN  BIG  SUR.     THE  BLAZE  IS BURNING IN  THE  PFEIFFER  RIDGE  AND  SYCAMORE  CANYON AREA,  WEST  OF  HIGHWAY  1.     EVACUATIONS  ARE  IN  PROGRESS.

Problems at San Jose Mineta International Airport - 12/16/13 07:15 S.S.

Travelers  planning  to  fly  out  of  San  Jose /Mineta International Airport today are asked to arrive  at least 2 hours before their flights are scheduled to take off.     That  after a ruptured water line shut down Terminal  A.     All airlines that operate out of  Terminal A are impacted.  Those airlines are: American, All Nippon Airways, Delta, JetBlue, United, U.S. Airways, Virgin America and Volaris.    Passengers can check in at airline counters, and then will be taken to Terminal B on shuttle buses for security screening.     The water line broke at 2:15 a.m. in the "skybridge" area of the terminal, which connects the parking garage to the security area.  The flow of water had been stopped as of 4:15 a.m., and crews are working to clean up and repair the area.
Luggage pickups have been moved to Terminal B for arriving passengers.

BODY ID’ED-12/15/13-2035- UPDATE-PMD

THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY CORONER’S OFFICE CONFIRMED THAT THE BODY PULLED FROM THE OCEAN AT SEACLIFF STATE BEACH, IS INDEED THAT OF MISSING TEEN NATE PHILLIPS.   ON SATURDAY THE IDENTITY OF THE BODY, FOUND FLOATING BY THE CEMENT SHIP, WAS CONFIRMED THROUGH FINGERPRINTS.  THE TEENAGER HAD BEEN MISSING SINCE DECEMBER 2ND. SINCE THE CONFIRMATION BECAME PUBLIC MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY HAVE BEEN PLACING FLOWERS AND NOTES ON BOTH ENDS OF THE PIER NEAR WHERE THE TEENS BODY WAS FOUND.  THE OFFICIAL CAUSE OF DEATH HAS YET TO BE RELEASED.

A TREND POPULAR IN OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY HAS TAKEN HOLD IN WATSONVILLE.  A DRIVE THROUGH COFFEE SHOP WHICH FEATURES BARISTAS SERVING COFFEE, WEARING ONLY BIKINIS, OPENED FOR BUSINESS ON THURSDAY. A CITY SPOKESPERSON TOLD RESIDENTS CONCERNED ABOUT THE NEW BUSINESS; THAT THERE IS NOTHING THE CITY CAN DO ABOUT IT AS LONG AS NO LAWS ARE BEING BROKEN.

FRI HWY 1 CRASH CPTOLA-12/15/13-1921-PMD

AN ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 1 NEAR 41ST AVENUECAUSED A MAJOR TRAFFIC JAM EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON.  CAPITOLA POLICE SENT OUT NIXLE ALERT WARNING DRIVERS TO AVOID THE AREA NEARLY 2 HOURS AFTER 12:10 P-M ACCIDENT, WHICH CLOSED THE NORTHBOUND LANES OF THE FREEWAY.    THAT AFTER A WOOD CHIPPER TRAILER OVERTURNED.  NO ONE WAS INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT, THE CAUSE REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
