PARAGLIDING ACCIDENT 5/29/13 8:00a DMF

A MAN WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL OF THE MONTEREY PENINSULA AFTER CRASHING HIS PARAGLIDER TUESDAY AFTERNOON.    FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED AT MARINA STATE BEACH AROUND 3 P-M AND FOUND THE INJURED MAN IN BETWEEN THE BEACH AND FORT ORD DUNES STATE PARK.  THE 36-YEAR-OLD WAS THEN LOADED ONTO AN ATV AND TRANSFERRED TO A WAITING AMBULANCE AT FORD ORD DUNES STATE PARK.  HE WAS THEN TRANSFERRED TO THE HOSPITAL TO TREAT HIS NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES.

MONTEREY DOWNS MEETING 5/29/13 10:00a DMF

IN A MEETING THURSDAY SEASIDE POLITICAL LEADERS WILL DISCUSS THE PROPOSED MONTEREY DOWNS DEVELOPMENT AND VISIT THE 550-ACRE FORT ORD SITE.    A FORMAL PROJECT PLANNING DOCUMENT WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE SEASIDE CITY COUNCIL AT A MEETING AT THE SEASIDE COMMUNITY CENTER ON 220 COE AVENUE AT 4 P-M.   MONTEREY DOWNS LLC WILL KICK OFF THE MEETING AND DISCUSS THE SPECIFIC PLAN, AFTERWARDS A 90 MINUTE TOUR OF THE PROJECT SITE WILL BE CONDUCTED.

GPD OFFICER TO BE ARRAIGNED 5/29/13 8:00a DMF

THE GILROY POLICE OFFICER WHO ALLEGEDLY BARRICADED HIMSELF IN A BEDROOM DRUNK AND RESISTED ARREST IN MERCED COUNTY BACK IN MARCH IS SCHEDULED TO BE ARRAIGNED JULY 10th.   45-YEAR-OLD OFFICER LEMUS WILL HAVE TO PLEAD GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY TO A RESISTING ARREST MISDEMEANOR.     MERCED COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES ORIGINALLY RESPONDED TO A SHOTS-FIRED CALL AT THE HOME OF LEMUS’ FATHER ON THE 2200 BLOCK OF EAST REILLY ROAD.

CHIPOTLE APPROVED 5/29/13 11:00a DMF

IN A MEETING TUESDAY THE MONTEREY PLANNING COMMISSION UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED A USE PERMIT FOR A CHIPOTLE RESTAURANT AT 560 MUNRAS AVENUE.   THE MEXICAN FOOD RESTAURANT WILL BE LOCATED IN THE BUILDING ALONGSIDE PEET’S COFEE AND TEA.   BUSINESS HOURS ARE TENTATIVELY SET AT 11 A-M TO 9 P-M.   THE COMMISSION ALSO APPROVED OUTDOOR SEATING WITH THE PERMIT.

Downtown SC bank robbed

A bank robbery took place Tuesday afternoon in Santa Cruz.

The bank of the West on Pacific Ave was robbed about 3:45 P.M. Tuesday by a white man described as about 20-years-old, standing 5 foot 7 and weighting about 160 pounds. He wore a Black Sox baseball hat, a black Santa Cruz hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
