Tree Recycling Program (SCC) 01/02/11 11:30pm TDH

 This week, Santa Cruz County residents can take advantage of a Christmas Tree recycling program.  Just put your tree out with your trash and recycling on your normally scheduled pick-up day, and your tree will be taken.  Trees should cut into sections no longer than 3-feet for residents in non-incorporated areas of Santa Cruz County.  City residents may leave trees in 6-foot lengths.  All trees must be bare.   The pick-up program runs from today through Friday, however trees can also be dropped off in bins at local fire stations until January 16th.    For more locations to recycle trees, visit www.santacruzcountyrecycles.org.

Monterey Shooting 01/02/11 11:30pm TDH

3-men were shot on Saturday morning, during an altercation outside of a bar in Monterey.   The incident took place outside of the Mucky Duck bar, which is on the 4-hundred block of Alvarado Street.  The men were shot after trying to eject some patrons at the bar.   The victims were air-lifted to Bay-area hospitals with non-life threatening wounds.  The shooter has not yet been located.

Salinas Shooting 01/02/11 11:30pm TDH

A teenager was shot in Salinas Sunday, near Natividad Creek Park.  The male victim was stuck in the shoulder, at about 4 p.m.   The shots were fired from a car, at Las Casitas Drive and Constitution Boulevard.  The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Seaside Drive-by 01/02/11 11:30pm TDH

Two 17-year-old boys were shot in a drive-by shooting in Seaside on Saturday night.   The teens were shot on Freemont Boulevard, and 1-suffered serious injuries.  The suspects were apprehended after a chase on Highway-1 that ended on the former Fort Ord.  4-people were taken into custody for the crime…police belive the shooting was gang motivated.

Prunedale Assault 01/02/11 11:30pm TDH

A Royal Oaks man was taken into custody in Prunedale, after assaulting a bar patron on New Year’s Morning.   Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 28-year-old Bruce Paul Clausen for allegedly assaulting a man who had been thrown out of the Country Kitchen Restaurant and Bar (on the 17-thousand-5-hundred block of Vierra Canyon Road).  Clausen told deputies that the bar owner had asked him to help control unruly patrons, however he is accused of kicking the victim in the face, (causing serious facial bleeding), and was arrested for battery.  The victim was treated at a local hospital.
