WATSONVILLE STABBING 3/15/13 9:00a DMF

A FIGHT THAT BROKE OUT YESTERDAY IN THE AREA OF 1726 FREEDOM BOULEVARD IN WATSONVILLE ESCALATED TO A STABBING.     OFFICERS ARRIVED ON THE SCENE AND COULD NOT LOCATE THE PERSONS FIGHTING BUT A SHORT TIME LATER WERE CALLED TO THE WATSONVILLE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL FOR A STABBING VICTIM.     THE VICTIM WAS AIRLIFTED TO A BAY AREA TRAUMA CENTER DUE TO LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES.      AFTER INVESTIGATION IT WAS DETERMINED NATHAN NAVARRO STABBED THE VICTIM THREE TIMES IN THE STOMACH DURING A NON-GANG RELATED ALTERCATION.      AT AROUND 2:15 A-M THIS MORNING, NAVARRO WAS LOCATED AT A RESIDENCE IN THE 100 BLOCK OF ROBERTA DRIVE. HE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY WITHOUT INCIDENT AND BOOKED INTO SANTA CRUZ COUNTY JAIL ON ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES.

SEASIDE TEACHER HOSPITALIZED 3/15/13 7:00a DMF

THE SEASIDE TEACHER ACCUSED OF DOWNLOADING THOUSANDS OF IMAGES OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY WAS IN THE HOSPITAL YESTERDAY.    NATHAN FORSTEEL WHO WORKED FOR THE MONTEREY PENINSULA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT ATTEMPTED TO OVERDOSE ON DRUGS.    FORSTEEL HAS BEEN PLACED ON A 72-HOUR MENTAL HEALTH HOLD.    HE WORKED AS A SUBSTITUTE IN SAN JOSE BEFORE COMING TO WORK FOR THE MONTEREY PENINSULA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT THIS YEAR.

SAL. DRUG BUST 3/15/13 7:00a DMF

A 3-WEEK INVESTIGATION BY SALINAS POLICE DEPARTMENT’S VIOLENCE SUPPRESSION UNIT LED TO A DRUG BUST ON THE 1100 BLOCK OF FAIRVIEW AVENUE.   A CITIZEN REPORTED ONGOING DRUG SALES AT THE LOCATION AND POLICE OFFICERS OBSERVED SOME OF THOSE SALES.  THE RESIDENTS OF THE HOME, 21-YEAR-OLD JOSE FRIAS AND 35-YEAR-OLD ROBERT FRIAS WERE SEEN DISCARDING EVIDENCE BEFORE LEAVING THE FRONT DOOR.   VARIOUS UNREGISTERED PISTOLS WERE LOCATED IN THE SEARCH, AS WELL AS MORE THAN 10 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CASH, AMMO, DIGITAL SCALES, GANG INDICA, HASHISH AND 10 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA.                    THE FRIAS BROTHERS WERE BOOKED ON NUMEROUS GUN, DRUG SALES AND GANG CHARGES.

CEMETERY SLAYING SENTENCE 3/15/13 7:00a DMF

THE HOMELESS MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING 72-YEAR-OLD FRANSISCO ROJAS AT A HOLLISTER CEMETERY WAS SENTENCED ON THURSDAY.      JORGE DIAZ WAS SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN PRISON AND COULD SERVE AS LITTLE AS 28 MONTHS.         JUDGE STEVEN SANDERS HANDED OUT THE SENTENCE; DIAZ WHO WAS ORIGINALLY CHARGED WITH HOMICIDE HAS ACCEPTED A PLEA DEAL ON A LESSER CHARGE.

SAL. HOMICIDE VICTIM ID’D 3/15/13 6:00a DMF

THE MAN SHOT AND KILLED IN EAST SALINAS YESTERDAY AFTERNOON HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED.   OLAJAWAN MILLIGAN WAS SHOT NEAR MAE AVENUE ON MORENO DRIVE AROUND 2:30 P-M AND WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. INVESTIGATORS ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR THE SUSPECT DESCRIBED AS A HISPANIC MALE, WEARING A GREY JACKET AND BLUE JEANS WHO WAS LAST SEEN FLEEING THE SCENE OF THE SHOOTING.    CESAR CHAVEZ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND ALISAL HIGH SCHOOL WERE BOTH PLACED ON LOCKDOWN FOLLOWING THE SHOOTING AS A PRECAUTION AND RE-OPENED AN HOUR LATER.
