A 58 YEAR-OLD PACIFIC GROVE MAN HAS PLEADED GUILTY. RAYMOND GUTOSKY PLEADED GUILTY TO 4 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES AND ASSAULTING A HOMEOWNER. GUTOWSKY, WHO HAS 2 PRIOR CONVICTIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY, IS EXPECTED TO BE SENTENCED TO SPEND MORE THAN 34 YEARS IN PRISON.

PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN WV ID’d - 05/12/14 17:27 S.S.

THE NAME OF THE 52 YEAR-OLD MAN KILLED IN WATSONVILLE SATURDAY NIGHT HAS BEEN RELEASED. JAIME QUIROGA OROZCO SUFFERED FATAL INJURIES WHEN HE WAS HIT BY A CAR WHILE TRYING TO CROSS HIGHWAY 129. THE 10:45 P-M ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON THE 100 BLOCK OF RIVERSIDE DRIVE.

SAL FATAL O-I SHOOTING I.D. - 05/12/14 17:00 S.S.

THE IDENTITY OF A MAN KILLED IN AN OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING FRIDAY IN SALINAS HAS BEEN RELEASED. 26 YEAR-OLD OSMAN HERNANDEZ, IS SAID TO HAVE ACTED ERRATICALLY, AND THREATENED OFFICERS WITH A KNIFE, BEFORE OFFICERS SHOT AND KILLED HIM. A NUMBER OF PEOPLE REPORTEDLY WITNESSED THE INCIDENT, AND THE INFORMATION THEY CAN PROVIDE COULD BE HELPFUL TO THE INVESTIGATION OF THIS OFFICER-INVOLVED FATAL SHOOTING.


ALTHOUGH OFFICERS INITIALLY USED A STUN GUN ON HERNANDEZ, HE WAS STILL ABLE TO PULL A LARGE KNIFE FROM HIS PANTS AND SLASH AT OFFICERS AS THEY TRIED TO HANDCUFF HIM. THAT’S WHEN THEY FIRED SEVERAL ROUNDS AT HERNANDEZ, KILLING HIM.

CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED FOR SAFETY ON SCHOOL BUSES.  C-H-P COMMISSIONER JOE FARROW RECEIVED THE 2014 CALIFORNIA STATE CHILD SAFETY AWARD LAST THURSDAY (MAY 8) AT THE 115TH ANNUAL CALIFORNIA STATE P-T-A CONVENTION HELD IN LOS ANGELES.   SCHOOL BUSES AND DRIVERS ARE REQUIRED TO PASS A CERTIFICATION AND INSPECTION BY THE C-H-P TO ENSURE SAFE STANDARDS FOR STUDENTS.    THERE HAS NOT BEEN A BUS RELATED STUDENT DEATH SINCE 1995.

A STATE BILL HAS PASSED THE SENATE THAT WILL EASE LICENSING REQUIREMENTS FOR SOME MEDICAL PROFESSIONS.     CURRENTLY, IMMIGRANTS WHO ARE IN THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY AND DO NOT HAVE A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, CANNOT RECEIVE MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL LICENSES TO CONDUCT BUSINESS.     THE BILL, PROPOSED BY SENATOR RICARDO LARA, WILL ALSO SANCTION THE USE OF A FEDERAL TAXPAYER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER INSTEAD OF A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER.
