Once the Skyview drive in movie theater, then a popular flea market and now a drive thru Covid 19 vaccination center.
The former drive in on Soquel avenue is now the first drive thru vaccination site in Santa Cruz county. Right now, healthcare workers in the first phase are those getting the shot but soon, sutter health hopes to open up the center for the second phase.
Patients receiving the shot will go to a waiting area after the vaccination and if they experience any trouble after the first 15-minutes then they honk their horn for help.

After a three and a half hour public hearing yesterday on the Santa Cruz rail trail… the public remains deeply divided.
Following the hearing the regional transportation commission tabled the hearing until next month when the meeting will not be a public hearing but rather will be an item on the agenda. Many attending the meeting did not have the chance to comment yesterday.
The R-T-C is wrestling with the deep divide of those who want the light rail and bike trail and those who simply want just a bike trail. Those against the passenger rail urged the commission to put the issue on the ballot in 2022.

Calling for a vaccination appointment? Be prepared for a long wait.
Two of the state’s largest healthcare providers; Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health are overwhelmed with phone calls and internet inquires for the vaccination… kaiser is warning callers they could wait up to four hours. Sutter’s website crashed because of the huge demand.
The demand comes following the decision earlier this week to open up vaccinations to those 65 and older eligible to receive the shot.

With temperatures forecast to be in the mid 70’s to 80 degrees around the central coast this weekend… it’s no wonder 2020 was the hottest year ever recorded.
Yesterday, NASA scientists announced the dubious milestone along with facts like: the earth’s average global surface temperature rose 2-point-16 degrees since the late 19th century and the seven hottest years on record have all happened since 2014.
The national oceanic and atmospheric association also reports 2020 was the earths 44th consecutive year with global land and ocean temps above the 20th-century average.
