Marina arrest-1/2/14-1818-PMD

A MARINA MAN WAS ARRESTED ON WEAPONS CHARGES MONDAY MORNING.   MARINA POLICE NOTICED A SUSPICIOUS MAN IN DARK CLOTHING ON THE 2-HUNDRED BLOCK OF CARMEL AVENUE.  WHEN OFFICERS APPROACHED THE SUSPECT HE EVADED THEM BRIEFLY UNTIL HE WAS DETAINED IN A NEARBY APARTMENT COMPLEX. A SEARCH OF THE SUSPECT TURNED UP A LOADED GUN, AND 18 YEAR OLD JEFFERY CHAMBERS WAS ARRESTED AND BOOKED INTO MONTEREY COUNTY JAIL.

Watsnvll shooting-1/2/14-1753-PMD

 A WATSONVILLE MAN SUFFERED A BULLET WOUND TO THE LEG WEDNESDAY NIGHT.  THE SHOOTING TOOK PLACE IN AN ALLEY BEHIND THE 1-HUNDRED BLOCK OF RIVERSIDE DRIVE AT AROUND 7:45 P-M.  POLICE SOURCES SAY THE 19 YEAR OLD VICTIM WAS WALKING WHEN HE WAS CONFRONTED BY 3 GANG MEMBERS ASKING WHAT GANG HE BELONGED TO, THE VICTIM DENIED ANY GANG ALLEGIANCE, BUT WAS SHOT ANYHOW. THE SUSPECTS FLED IN A BROWN HONDA ACCORD.  ANYONE WITH ANY INFORMATION IS URGED TO CONTACT THE WATSONVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

2 ARRESTED AFTER CHASE - 01/02/14 10:50 S.S.

AN  ADULT  AND  A  MINOR  WERE  ARRESTED  EARLY  YESTERDAY  IN  WATSONVILLE.      THAT  AFTER  27  YEAR-OLD  WATSONVILLE  RESIDENT  YOVANI  FERNANDEZ  ZAMORA,  AND  A  15  YEAR-OLD,  LED  LAW  ENFORCEMENT  OFFICERS  ON  A  HIGH-SPEED  CHASE  (WITH  THE  15  YEAR-OLD DRIVING).      THE  TEEN  FACES  POSSIBLE  CHARGES  OF  VEHICLE  THEFT,  RESISTING ARREST,  POSSESSION  OF  BURGLARY  TOOLS,  AND  GANG  PARTICIPATION.       ZAMORA  HAS  BEEN  CHARGED  WITH  RESISTING  ARREST,   AND  CONTRIBUTING  TO  THE  DELINQUENCY  OF  A  MINOR.

STOLEN VEHICLE ARREST - 01/02/13 10:42 S.S.

A  34  YEAR-OLD  KNOWN  GANG  MEMBER  WAS  ARRESTED  EARLY  THIS  MORNING,    AFTER  HE  WAS  SPOTTED  DRIVING  A  STOLEN  VEHICLE  IN  WATSONVILLE.      JOSE  LUIS  ORTEGON  WAS  SEEN CIRCLING  THE  VISTA  POINTE  DRIVE  AREA  IN  THE STOLEN  VEHICLE.      HE  WAS  BOOKED  INTO  SANTA  CRUZ  COUNTY  JAIL.

THE  NEW  YEAR’S  EVE  CELEBRATION  IN  DOWNTOWN  SANTA  CRUZ  APPARENTLY  WENT  MORE  SMOOTHLY  THAN  IT  HAS  IN  YEARS  PAST.   ABOUT  45 HUNDRED  PEOPLE  SHOWED  UP,  AND  17  OF  THOSE  WERE  ARRESTED  FOR  PUBLIC  INTOXICATION.    THERE  WERE  NO  REPORTED  INCIDENTS  OF  VIOLENCE  THIS  TIME.
