DUE  TO  HIS  INSURANCE  COMPANY  DROPPING  HIS  ‘AROUND-THE-CLOCK  CARE’  COVERAGE  AT  A  REHAB  FACILITY,  BRYAN  STOW HAS  BEEN  BROUGHT  HOME  TO  SANTA  CRUZ.       HIS  FAMILY SAYS  STOW HAD  REALLY  BEEN  IMPROVING  HIS  ABILITY  TO  MOVE  AROUND  AND  DO  THINGS  FOR  HIMSELF,  BUT  NOW  THEIR  FOCUS  IS  ON  JUST  TRYING  TO  PROVIDE  BASIC  CARE  FOR  HIM  AS  BEST  THEY  CAN….WITH  VERY  LITTLE  FINANCIAL  ASSISTANCE.      DUE  TO  THE  CHANGE  IN  COVERAGE, STOW’S INSURANCE  NOW  ONLY COVERS 30 HOURS OF PHYSICAL  THERAPY.…A  YEAR.

NEW DRILLING ORDINANCE - AROMAS - 06/19/13 08:44 S.S.

AN  ORDINANCE  REGARDING  OIL  DRILLING,   AND  THE  SAFE-GUARDING  OF  WATER,   LAND,   AND  THE  QUALITY  OF  LIFE WAS  AGREED  UPON  YESTERDAY  IN  SAN  BENITO  COUNTY.    THE  NEW  ORDINANCE  CREATES  A  FRAMEWORK  TO  CLOSELY  EXAMINE  EACH  OIL  AND  GAS  EXTRACTION  PROJECT  PROPOSED  WITHIN  THE  COUNTY.   SAN  BENITO  COUNTY  PROPERTY  OWNERS  (WITHIN  1  MILE  OF  EACH  PROPOSED  DRILLING  SITE)  MUST  ALSO  NOW  RECEIVE  A  NOTICE  FROM  THE  OIL  COMPANY,  AND  THERE   HAS  TO BE  A  500-FOOT  BUFFER  ZONE  BETWEEN  THE  DRILLING  SITE  AND  A  HOME,  BUSINESSES,  AND  ROADS.

A  TOWN  HALL  MEETINGS  IS  SCHEDULED  TO  BE  HELD  IN  MONTEREY TONIGHT.    THE  MAIN  ISSUE  TO  BE  DISCUSSED  IS  WATER.     THE  GROUP  “PUBLIC  WATER  NOW” IS  LOOKING  FOR  COMMUNITY  INPUT  ON  CAL-AM’S PROPOSED  CHANGES.    THE  MEETING  IS  SLATED  TO  BEGIN  AT  7:15  P-M  AT  THE  UNITARIAN  UNIVERSALIST  CHURCH.

SALINAS COUNCILMAN WON’T RUN-6/18/13-18:15-PMD

SALINAS CITY COUNCILMAN JOSE CASTANEDA ANNOUNCED THAT HE WILL NOT SEEK RE-ELECTION FOR A POSITION ON THE ALISAL UNION SCHOOL BOARD OF SUPERVISORS. THE COUNCILMAN HAS BEEN AT THE CENTER OF SEVERAL CONTROVERSIES. ONE OF THE ISSUES IS THAT AT THE PRESENT HE HOLDS 2 SEATS THAT COULD REPRESENT A CONFLICT OF INTERESTS.

WEST CLIFF MARKERS-6/18/13-17:55-PMD

the santa cruz department of PARKS and recreation has INSTALLED TRAINING aids for athletes.   the department has placed markers along the 2 and a half mile path that stretches from above the wharf to natural bridges state park. the colored markers are placed a quarter mile apart so that athletes can accurately track their pace. the training aids are expected to last for years and cost the city about a thousand dollars.
