OFFICIALS SAY THE MAN BROKE INTO THE KAISER PERMANENTE ARENA AND STOLE APPAREL, TRAINING GEAR, AS WELL AS CASH AND GIFT CERTIFICATES.    A PHOTO OF THE BURGLAR HAS BEEN POSTED ON THE SANTA CRUZ POLICE BLOG.     ANYONE WITH ANY INFORMATION IS ENCOURAGED TO CONTACT SANTA CRUZ POLICE.

A FOSSIL FOUND IN SANTA CRUZ HAS REVEALED A NEW SPECIES OF WHALE.    PALEONTOLOGY GRADUATE STUDENT ROBERT BOESSENECKER RECOVERED A SKULL AMONG A TROVE OF OTHER WHALE BONES IN A CLIFFSIDE TEN YEARS AGO.     ACCORDING TO BOESSENECKER’S RECENT FINDINGS, THE FOSSIL BELONGED TO A WHALE 5-6 METERS LONG THAT LIVED IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN THREE MILLION YEARS AGO.

A SALINAS MAN WILL REMAIN IN A STATE MENTAL FACILITY AFTER A COURT RULING MADE YESTERDAY.   42-YEAR-OLD SEAN ADAMS THREW SULFURIC ACID INTO THE FACE OF A BICYCLIST ON THE MONTEREY RECREATIONAL TRAIL IN 2000.    ADAMS WAS COMMITTED TO A STATE HOSPITAL AFTER BEING FOUND NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANITY.    THIS WEEK, PROCEEDINGS DETERMINED ADAMS STILL POSES A DANGER TO THE PUBLIC AND WILL CONTINUE TREATMENT.

TWO SALINAS WOMEN ARRESTED LAST WEEK FOR ALLEGED CHILD ABUSE NOW FACE ADDITIONAL CHARGES.    MONTEREY COUNTY PROSECUTORS ADDED CHARGES YESTERDAY (THURS), INCLUDING  MISDEMEANOR CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT AND FELONY FALSE IMPRISONMENT IN CONNECTION WITH THE           8-YEAR-OLD GIRL WHO WAS FOUND CHAINED TO A WALL.    ERACA CRAIG AND CHRISTIAN DEANDA ALREADY FACED COUNTS OF FELONY CHILD ENDANGERMENT AFTER THEIR ARREST.             A HEARING WILL BE HELD TOMORROW TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT TO RAISE THEIR BAIL FROM FIFTY-THOUSAND-DOLLARS TO FIVE-HUNDRED-THOUSAND-DOLLARS.

A MAN WHO PROVIDES SERVICES TO SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN IN MONTEREY COUNTY IS ACCUSED OF MOLESTING JUVENILES. 57 YEAR-OLD ADAM FROGEL TURNED HIMSELF IN THIS WEEK TO SALINAS POLICE OFFICERS. FROGEL IS A CONTRACT EMPLOYEE FROM FLORIDA WHO IS WORKING UNDER A CONTRACT WITH THE MONTEREY COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION, AND IS NOT AN EMPLOYEE OF THE SALINAS UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT.
