WILDFIRE NEAR ROARING CAMP - 04/29/13 18:17 S.S.

A  WILDLAND FIRE  BURNED  ABOUT  A QUARTER  ACRE  NEAR  THE  TRACKS FOR  ROARING  CAMP  RAILROAD  OVER  THE  WEEKEND.   THE  BLAZE  WAS  CALLED  IN  AROUND  5  P-M  SATURDAY.    BECAUSE  FIREFIGHTERS  COULD  NOT  GET  TO THE  ROUND  BY  ROAD,   A  HELICOPTER  WAS  DISPATCHED  SO  THE  FLAMES  COULD  BE  DOUSED  FROM  ABOVE.     THE  CAUSE  OF  THE  FIRE  HAS  YET  TO  BE  DETERMINED.

A  POWER  OUTAGE  IN  SCOTTS  VALLEY  IS  IMPACTING  ABOUT  19  HUNDRED  P.G.& E.  CUSTOMERS  AT THIS  TIME.    THE  OUTAGE  BEGAN  AT  5:06 P-M,  AND  ALL  POWER  IS  EXPECTED  TO  BE  RESTORED BY 8:45 P-M TONIGHT.

KNOWN GANG MEMBER ARRESTED - 04/29/13 17:53 S.S.

A  32  YEAR-OLD  KNOWN-GANG-MEMBER  WAS  ARRESTED  (AFTER  A  FOOT  CHASE  IN  THE  BECK  STREET  AREA)  IN  WATSONVILLE  OVER  THE  WEEEKEND.       JIMMY  ESPINOSA  WAS  FOUND  TO  BE  IN  POSSESSION  OF  CRYSTAL  METHAMPHETAMINE  AND  A  LOADED,  STOLEN,  HANDGUN.        ESPINOSA  WAS  BOOKED  INTO  SANTA  CRUZ COUNTY  JAIL.

HIT-AND-RUN ACC THIS A.M. - 04/29/13 17:38 S.S.

A  16  YEAR-OLD  SALINAS  HIGH  SCHOOL  STUDENT  WAS  INJURED  IN  A  HIT-AND-RUN  ACCIDENT  THIS  MORNING  WHILE  HE  WAS  WALKING  TO SCHOOL.    THE  TEEN  WAS  REPORTEDLY  IN  THE  CROSSWALK  AT  MAIN  AND  ACACIA  STREETS  WHEN  HE  WAS  HIT  BY  DARK  GREY  OLDER  MODEL  FORD  EXPLORER  WITH  A  RED  PASSENGER  DOOR.     ANYONE  WITH  ANY  INFORMATION  ON  THIS  VEHICLE,  OR  ITS  DRIVER,  IS  ENCOURAGED  TO  CONTACT  THE  SALINAS POLICE  DEPARTMENT.  

THE  TEEN  WAS  TRANSPORTED  TO  SALINAS VALLEY  MEMORIAL  HOSPITAL  WITH  INJURIES  TO  HIS  MOUTH,  AND  BACK.

STUDENTS FROM 6 AREA HIGH SCHOOLS HAVE FORMED THE SANTA

CRUZ YOUTH CITY COUNCIL.      THEIR FIRST MEETING WILL BE HELD

TONIGHT AT SANTA CRUZ CITY HALL BEGINNING AT 6:30 P-M.      THE

YOUTH COUNCIL WAS FORMED AFTER THE YOUTH SAFETY SUMMIT

LAST MONTH.      THE YOUTH CITY COUNCIL WILL FOCUS ON ISSUES

FACING THE YOUTH POPULATION OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY.   DURING

THE MONTH OF MAY THE NEW YOUTH CITY COUNCIL WILL CONDUCT A

YOUTH SAFETY SURVEY THROUGHOUT SANTA CRUZ, WITH THE HELP

OF THE WATSONVILLE YOUTH CITY COUNCIL.     FOR MORE
