POLICE IN WATSONVILLE ARRESTED A WOMAN YESTERDAY FOR HARBORING A FUGITIVE.    JULIO GERONIMO WAS BEING SOUGHT NEAR A HOME ON LONE PINE AVENUE, WHEN HE WAS LOCATED INSIDE OF A RESIDENCE TALKING TO YOLANDA ESPINOSO.   GERONIMO, WHO HAD SEVERAL OUTSTANDING FELONY WARRANTS, WAS FOUND HIDING IN A SMALL CRAWL SPACE UNDER THE HOUSE, BEFORE HE WAS FORCED OUT BY OFFICERS.    BOTH WERE BOOKED INTO SANTA CRUZ COUNTY JAIL.

COACH APPEARS IN COURT-9/12/13-19:20-PMD

THE VOLUNTEER CHEERLEADING COACH HAD A COURT APPEARANCE ON THURSDAY.  WATSONVILLE RESIDENT 22 YEAR OLD GREGORY UVALLES IS CHARGED WITH HAVING SEX AND OR PERFORMING SEX ACTS WITH UNDERAGE STUDENTS AT MONTEREY HIGH SCHOOL. UVALLES WAS APPOINTED A PUBLIC DEFENDER, HIS BAIL REMAINS AT 200 THOUSAND DOLLARS. UVALLES IS DUE BACK IN COURT TUESDAY FOR ARRAIGNMENT.

GUN SEIZED FROM MOST WANTED-9/12/13-19:00-PMD

OFFICERS WITH THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY ANTI-CRIME TEAM, ARRESTED A MAN ON THE COUNTY’S MOST WANTED LIST ON THURSDAY.   THE TEAM WAS SEARCHING FOR 31 YEAR OLD JULIO CESAR GERONIMO, WHO WAS WANTED ON ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON AND VEHICLE THEFT WARRANTS.   HE WAS LOCATED AT HOME ON LONE PINE ROAD IN WATSONVILLE, WHERE A STANDOFF ENSUED.   GERONIMO WAS EVENTUALLY PERSUADED TO SURRENDER TO THE OFFICERS.  A 45 CALIBER HANDGUN WAS RECOVERED FROM THE HOME. 35 YEAR OLD YOLANDA ESPINOSA WAS ARRESTED FOR HARBORING A FUGITIVE.  THEY WERE BOOKED INTO SANTA CRUZ COUNTY JAIL.

SC COURTROOM FIGHT-9/12/13-18:30-PMD

VIOLENCE BROKE OUT IN A SANTA CRUZ COUNTY COURTROOM ON THURSDAY.   THE INCIDENT BEGAN WHEN 36 YEAR JOSEPH FARRELL, WHO IS FACING ARMED ROBBERY CHARGES, WAS BEING LED INTO THE COURTROOM.   AS FARRELL WAS PASSING CONVICTED MURDERER, 20 YEAR OLD CHRISTIAN SPEAKER, HE STRUCK HIM ON THE SIDE OF THE HEAD.   SPEAKER RECEIVED A GASH THAT REQUIRED STITCHES FROM THE BLOW.  FARRELL WILL POSSIBLY BE CHARGED FOR THE ATTACK.

SC SCHOOL SPR BLSTD-9/12/13-18:00-PMD

THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SANTA CRUZ CITY SCHOOLS IS BEING CRITICIZED BY TEACHERS, SCHOOL EMPLOYEES, PARENTS AND STUDENTS.  SUPERINTENDENT GARY BLOOM HAS THE TEACHERS UNION UPSET OVER THE 1 PERCENT RAISE, BLOOM OFFERED. OTHER SCHOOL WORKERS ANNOUNCED A VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE IN BLOOM, THAT AFTER HE PROPOSED A 4 OR 5 PERCENT RAISE, ONLY IF THE DISTRICT STOPPED CONTRIBUTING TO THE EMPLOYEE HEALTH CARE FUND. THE SUPERINTENDENT IS ALSO BEING CRITICIZED, BY PARENTS AND STUDENTS, FOR CHOOSING NOT TO RE-NEW A POPULAR COACH’S CONTRACT.  TALKS, BETWEEN THE TEACHERS UNION AND THE DISTRICT ARE SET TO CONTINUE SEPTEMBER 27TH.
