100 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS APPLIED FOR 22 POSITIONS AT SALINAS VALLEY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL THIS SUMMER.     THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WILL BE ATTENDING A 5-WEEK PROGRAM AT THE HOSPITAL TO SEE WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE IN THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY.       DURING THE PROGRAM THE STUDENTS WILL DEVELOP AND UNDERSTAND HOSPITAL ORGANIZATION, DIAGNOSIS, CARE PLAN DEVELOPMENT, PATIENT ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT.

A 23 YEAR OLD MAN WAS ARRESTED IN SALINAS TUESDAY NIGHT.         LUIS VALDEZ WAS CAUGHT BY SALINAS POLICE OFFICERS ON THE 600 BLOCK OF MAE AVENUE (WHERE HE TRIED TO RUN FROM THEM AND WAS TASED).      VALDEZ WAS BOOKED INTO MONTEREY COUNTY JAIL FOR SUSPICION OF RESISTING ARREST, POSSESSION OF A METH PIPE, AND 200 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN FELONY WARRANTS.

DUE  TO  HIS  INSURANCE  COMPANY  DROPPING  HIS  ‘AROUND-THE-CLOCK  CARE’  COVERAGE  AT  A  REHAB  FACILITY,  BRYAN  STOW HAS  BEEN  BROUGHT  HOME  TO  SANTA  CRUZ.       HIS  FAMILY SAYS  STOW HAD  REALLY  BEEN  IMPROVING  HIS  ABILITY  TO  MOVE  AROUND  AND  DO  THINGS  FOR  HIMSELF,  BUT  NOW  THEIR  FOCUS  IS  ON  JUST  TRYING  TO  PROVIDE  BASIC  CARE  FOR  HIM  AS  BEST  THEY  CAN….WITH  VERY  LITTLE  FINANCIAL  ASSISTANCE.      DUE  TO  THE  CHANGE  IN  COVERAGE, STOW’S INSURANCE  NOW  ONLY COVERS 30 HOURS OF PHYSICAL  THERAPY.…A  YEAR.

NEW DRILLING ORDINANCE - AROMAS - 06/19/13 08:44 S.S.

AN  ORDINANCE  REGARDING  OIL  DRILLING,   AND  THE  SAFE-GUARDING  OF  WATER,   LAND,   AND  THE  QUALITY  OF  LIFE WAS  AGREED  UPON  YESTERDAY  IN  SAN  BENITO  COUNTY.    THE  NEW  ORDINANCE  CREATES  A  FRAMEWORK  TO  CLOSELY  EXAMINE  EACH  OIL  AND  GAS  EXTRACTION  PROJECT  PROPOSED  WITHIN  THE  COUNTY.   SAN  BENITO  COUNTY  PROPERTY  OWNERS  (WITHIN  1  MILE  OF  EACH  PROPOSED  DRILLING  SITE)  MUST  ALSO  NOW  RECEIVE  A  NOTICE  FROM  THE  OIL  COMPANY,  AND  THERE   HAS  TO BE  A  500-FOOT  BUFFER  ZONE  BETWEEN  THE  DRILLING  SITE  AND  A  HOME,  BUSINESSES,  AND  ROADS.

A  TOWN  HALL  MEETINGS  IS  SCHEDULED  TO  BE  HELD  IN  MONTEREY TONIGHT.    THE  MAIN  ISSUE  TO  BE  DISCUSSED  IS  WATER.     THE  GROUP  “PUBLIC  WATER  NOW” IS  LOOKING  FOR  COMMUNITY  INPUT  ON  CAL-AM’S PROPOSED  CHANGES.    THE  MEETING  IS  SLATED  TO  BEGIN  AT  7:15  P-M  AT  THE  UNITARIAN  UNIVERSALIST  CHURCH.
