sierra lamar - leads 04/17/12 1530 e.a.

new leads are being investigated in the search for missing morgan hill teen sierra lamarsanta clara county sheriff’s investigators gained the new leads from crime lab results that were obtained yesterday.  law enforcement officials haven’t released what the leads are, but have said that the results came from evidence that was collected early in the investigation.  15 year old sierra lamar went missing on march 16th.  investigators believe she was kidnapped on her way to a bus stop that morning.

the pacific grove city council is expected to vote on a moss landing desalination project proposal at their meeting today.  the city of pacific grove had joined with other monterey peninsula cities in the new peninsula regional water authority, which is trying to secure a new water supply.  the proposed desal plant would entail the city issuing nearly 130 million dollars in bonds.  the plant is projected to produce 10-thousand, 7-hundred acre feet of water a year.  the pacific grove city council meeting is slated for 6 p.m. today. 

missing aromas man body found 04/17/12 1530 e.a.

the body of an aromas man who went missing earlier this month was found yesterday.  a man who was fishing in an aromas pond told san benito county sheriff’s deputies that he saw a hand in the water yesterday afternoon.  a dive team from monterey county recovered the body of 24 year old nelson hardy, who had gone missing from his aromas home on april 2nd. investigators are looking into the cause of hardy’s death

p.g. gas leak 04/17/12 1430 e.a.

Pacific grove police evacuated over 40 residents of fountain drive after a gas leak was detected this afternoon.  p.g. & e. crews working on a sewer line ruptured an old, unmarked, gas line earlier today.  as a precaution, nearby homes and a daycare were evacuated while crews worked to shut down the gas flow. the neighborhood is now open to traffic and pedestrians. 

3rd victim of sv molest 04/17/12 1430 e.a.

santa cruz police officers have found evidence of a possible 3rd victim of a scotts valley man accused of lewd acts with a minor.  42 year old david paul escobar was arrested last month on suspicion of sexual charges related to a 14 year old girl.  after his arrest, a 2nd teen came forward, claiming she had been molested by escobar in 2010 and 2011.  more recently, while searching escobar’s computer, investigators found pornographic images of a 13 year old girl that were taken several years ago.  escobar now faces 47 criminal charges.  he remains in santa cruz county jail on 1 million dollars bail.
