Chief Madlone Update on Officer Admin Leave 1.18.2021 0650 3 JS

Following allegations of anti-Black Lives Matter remarks on a Parler social media account belonging to a male Pacific Grove Police Officer, the investigation into this matter was finalized this weekend.

Chief Madalone of Pacific Grove Police had the following to say about this matter in a video update posted on social media…

“As of [January 13], that officer is no longer employed by the city of Pacific Grove in any capacity”, Chief Madalone said.  

“We will continue to serve this community and provide professional police services while respecting the rights and dignity of all people regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other factor. The department takes every complaint seriously. Misconduct of any kind is not tolerated”.

Chief Madlone was unable to provide further details regarding the incident, but also welcomed a new Police Commander David Santos who will start on the final Monday of this month.

Possible Porch Pirate 1.18.2021 0640 2 JS

Officials with the Marina Police Department are asking the public to keep an eye out for a package thief.  

The suspect is seen wearing a fluorescent vest with two stripes and carrying a trash bag.

M-P-D believes that the person is walking throughout neighborhoods and looking as if he is picking up trash.

Anyone with information about this package thief is encouraged to contact the Marina Police Department.

Highway 17 Weekend Shutdown 1.18.2021 0620 1 JS

On Sunday, two large boulders slid down the hillside and landed on Southbound Highway 17 near the Redwood Estates area.

The boulders were over 800 pounds, and a Toyota Prius crashed into one of them.

The driver was not injured, however traffic was at a standstill as crews worked to clear the debris.

Delays as a result of this incident were well over an hour as traffic backed up as far as Campbell.

Gang Member Arr 01-17-21 14:03 S.S.

A 31 year-old known gang member was arrested after he led lawn enforcement officers on a high speed chase. The chase ended near Fairview Avenue and Beverly Drive in Salinas. Justin Ramirez faces possible firearm and drug-related charges. He was booked into Monterey County Jail.

Help Needed Identifying 01-17-21 11:52 S.S.

The public's assistance is being sought in connection with identifying a person of interest in an investigation. He is described as being a tall man with a medium to large build, in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing a black 'Under Armor' hoodie, black shorts, black socks and black sandals....and he has short dark hair. The vehicle he was in is described as a newer white sedan with tinted windows. Anyone with information on his identity is encouraged to contact the Marina Police Department.
