PVUSD AGREEMENT -06/02/13 17:09 GE

LAST WEDNESDAY, THE CLASSIFIED WORKERS OF THE PAJARO VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT,  REACHED A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT OF A ONE TIME,  FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR BONUS, ALONG WITH A FOUR PER-CENT SALARY INCREASE.   THE AGREEMENT NOW NEEDS RATIFICATION BY CALIFORNIA SCHOOL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION.  IF APPROVED, OTHER BENEFITS WILL BE, THE RESTORATION OF HOURS FOR ELEMENTARY OFFICE ASSISTANTS, THE HIRE OF MORE CUSTODIANS AND THE RE-INSTATEMENT OF STIPENDS FOR ATHLETICS.

THE INTERVIEW PROCESS OF THE HIRING OF NEW DEPUTIES, TOOK PLACE ON SATURDAY,  ACCORDING TO THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT.  MORE THAN 300 APPLICANTS WERE INTERVIEWED OVER THE COURSE OF THE DAY, TO FILL THE 4 SPOTS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.      PHYSICAL TESTS AND BACKGROUND SEARCHES WILL REDUCE THAT NUMBER DRAMATICALLY. THE 4 CANDIDATES , WHO ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO SURVIVE THE LONG, DIFFICULT PROCESS, WILL START THE ACADEMY IN AUGUST.

RESTRAINING ORDER SALINAS -06/02/13 16:15 GE

 

A MAN ON PROBATION FOR TWO FELONY CASES AND ONE MISDEMEANOR, WAS ARRESTED AROUND NOON ON SATURDAY, IN SALINAS.  JUSTIN NIX WAS ALLEGEDLY IN VIOLATION OF A RESTRAINING ORDER AGAINST HIM, AT AN ADDRESS ON RIVER RUN ROAD.   WHEN OFFICERS ARRIVED AT THE LOCATION, THEY FOUND THAT NIX HAD FLED THE SCENE ON A BICYCLE.  AFTER AN AREA CHECK, DEPUTIES FOUND THE SUSPECT BEHIND A COUNTY PARK ROAD RESIDENCE.    NIX  BECAME COMBATIVE AND ATTEMPTED TO RESIST ARREST, BUT THE DEPUTIES SUCCEEDED IN TAKING HIM INTO CUSTODY  HE WAS BOOKED IN COUNTY JAIL.

SALINAS WOMAN DEAD AFTER CRASH 6/2/13- 15:00 PMD

A SALINAS WOMAN WAS IN A SERIES OF COLLISIONS SATURDAY MORNING.  THE C-H-P RESPONDED TO AN ACCIDENT SCENE  AT ABOUT 9 A-M ON HIGHWAY 68, NEAR PORTOLA, WHERE A CAR HAD LEFT THE ROADWAY AND COME TO REST ON A HILLSIDE. INSIDE THE VEHICLE WAS AN UNRESPONSIVE 73 YEAR OLD WOMAN WAS BEHIND THE WHEEL. ATTEMPTS TO REVIVE HER WERE UNSUCESSFUL.  THE ACCIDENTS DO NOT APPEAR TO BE THE CAUSE OF THE WOMANS DEATH WHOSE IDENTITY IS BEING WITHHELD PENDIND NOTIFICATION OF FAMILY.
