THE BODY OF AN ADULT HUMPBACK WHALE WASHED UP ON A SANTA CRUZ COUNTY BEACH LAST WEEK.   THE MODERATELY DECOMPOSED, 45 FOOT WHALE WAS FOUND AFTER SUNSET THURSDAY, ON PALM BEACH IN THE PAJARO DUNES AREA OUTSIDE OF WATSONVILLE.   NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF TRAUMA WERE APPARENT,  MAKING  A NECROPSY  NECESSARY TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF DEATH. AFTER THE NECROPSY THE CARCASS IS TO BE BURIED OR TOWED OUT TO SEA.   PEOPLE WHO FIND whales, dolphins, porpoises and sea turtles CAN report THEM to Long Marine Laboratory  AT  831-212-1272.

 a salinas man has been arrested on felony possession and sales of illegal fireworks on saturday.    after receiving a tip that illegal fireworks were being sold through facebook, a department of justice task force (comprised of officers from the salinas police department, c-h-p and monterey county sheriff’s office) used an uncover agent to set up a fireworks buy using the social media site.  at around 11:30 a-m 33 year old daniel alocer was arrested at his home on the 1st block of towt street. over 18-hundred pounds of illegal of illegal fireworks valued at 20-thousand dollars were seized during the operation.

 an official complaint has been filed against santa cruz biotech.     the complaint, filed by the research watchdog group, stop animal EXPLOITATION now, (or Saen) is seeking the revocation of biotech’s animal dealer license.    the company needs the license to sell animal anti bodies to research labs.  t  he complaint alleges that biotech lied to the u-s-d-a about the existence of a facility housing sick animals.     since 2012 biotech has been cited by the u-s-d-a 17 times for non-compliance during 6 inspections.
