Volunteers Needed In SB Co 01-21-21 08:44 S.S.

Volunteers  are  being  sought  to  help  with  Covid-19  mass  vaccine  clinics  in  San  Benito  county.  Volunteers  are  being  sought  to  do  a  variety  of  tasks  including  traffic  control,   handling  screening  formsconducting  temperature  checksre-stocking  supplies...and, of  course,  administering  vaccines.    

Volunteers  must  be  at  least  18  years-old, and  Spanish  speaking  volunteers  are  especially  needed.   To  be  able  to  allowed  to  administer  the  vaccine,  people  need to  be  qualified  in  an  appropriate  medical  field.

Student Leaders Program 01-21-21 07:27 S.S.

The  deadline  is  coming  up  to apply to be part of a  Student  Leadership  Program,  which  provides  a  paid  8-week  internship  while  the  high  school  students  work  at  local  non-profits  in  Monterey  county.       Of  the  Monterey  county  juniors  and  seniors  who  apply  to  learn  about  the  needs  of  the  community  and  the  critical role  that  non-profits  play,  only  2  will  be  chosen.      Applications  for  this  35-hour  per  week  internship  need  to  be  filed  by  January  29th....with  the  Bank  Of  America  Student  Leader Program.  The high school students  can  do  that  by going  on-line  to:  www.CyberGrants.com

P.G. & E.  CREWS  HAVE  BEEN  WORKING  AROUND  THE  CLOCK  TO  RESTORE  POWER  TO  ALL  WHO  LOST  THEIR  POWER  AS  A  RESULT  OF  THE  “WIND  EVENT”  EARLIER  THIS  WEEK.  THE  CURRENT  NUMBERS  IN  SANTA  CRUZ  COUNTY,  AS  OF  THIS  MORNING  WERE....

MORE  THAN  37-HUNDRED  P.G. & E. CUSTOMERS  ARE STILL  WITHOUT  POWER  IN  THE  BOULDER  CREEK  AREA,  NEARLY  1-THOUSAND  ARE  STILL  WITHOUT  POWER  IN BEN  LOMOND,    NEARLY  15-HUNDRED  IN  FELTON,  1  THOUSAND  IN  SCOTTS  VALLEY,  AND  16-HUNDRED  IN SANTA  CRUZ.   FURTHER  SOUTH  IN  SANTA  CRUZ  COUNTY  THERE  ARE  UNDER  300  WITHOUT  POWER  IN  APTOS,  AND  ONLY  ABOUT  300  LEFT  WITHOUT  POWER  IN  WATSONVILLE.    CREWS  HOPE  TO  HAVE  THE  POWER RESTORED  TO  MOST  SANTA  CRUZ  COUNTY  P.G. & E.  CUSTOMERS  BY  LATE  TOMORROW  NIGHT,  AND  THE REST  ARE EXPECTED  TO  HAVE  THEIR  POWER  RESTORED  BY  THE END  OF  THE  WEEKEND.

Pause On Moderna Lifted 01-21-21 07:20 S.S.

The  California  Department  Of  Public  Health  has  lifted  the  statewide  pause  on  some  of  the  Moderna  Vaccine  that  was  connected  with  the  allergic  reactions  experienced  in  southern  California.   That  after  further  examination  of  the  evidence  collected  on  Moderna  Lot  41l20a found  no  scientific  basis  to  continue  the  pause.

Salinas Homicide 01-21-21 07:12 S.S.

An  investigation  is  continuing  today  for  a  homicide  that  took  place  yesterday  in  Salinas.   That  after a  man  was  killed  shortly  before  noon  on  Russell  Road.    Anyone  with  information  on this  case  is  encouraged  to contact  the  Salinas  Police  Department
