SALINAS STRONG-ARM ROBBERY - 05/15/12 10:50 S.S.

A  21  YEAR-OLD  MAN  WAS  ARRESTED  IN  SALINAS  LAST  NIGHT,  IN  CONNECTION  WITH  A  STRONG-ARMED  ROBBERY  THAT TOOK  PLACE  IN  THE  800  BLOCK  OF  EAST  LAUREL  DRIVE ARNOLD  DIAZ IS  THOUGHT  TO  HAVE  ATTACKED  A  MAN  JOGGING  THROUGH  MEMORIAL  PARK, AND  ROBBED  HIM.  DIAZ WAS  BOOKED  INTO  MONTEREY COUNTY  JAIL .

POSSIBLE UTILITY RATE HIKE - 05/15/12 09:15 S.S.

THE  WATSONVILLE  PUBLIC  WORKS  AND  UTILITIES  DEPARTMENT HAS  PROPOSED  A  RATE  HIKE   FOR  SOLID  WASTE,   WATER,   AND   SEWER  SERVICES.       TRASH  CAN  PICK-UP  RATES  COULD  GO  UP  AS  MUCH  AS  1-2  DOLLARS  PER  MONTH  (EVERY  YEAR  UNTIL  2017),   WHILE  THE  SEWER  RATE  COULD  INCREASE  NEARLY  9  DOLLARS  OVER  THAT  5-YEAR  SPAN.  POSSIBLE  WATER  METER  RATE  INCREASES  ARE  ALSO  BEING  CONSIDERED.        THE  RATE  HIKES  HAVE  BEEN  PROPOSED  TO  OFFSET  THE  CONTINUED  COSTS  OF  MAINTAINING  (AND  REPLACING)  THE  CITY’S  AGING  WATER  LINES.

AN  APTOS  MAN  IS  EXPECTED  TO  RECOVER.      THAT  AFTER  HE  GOT  STABBED  (AFTER  HE  ATTACKED  A  PERSON  HE  SAID  HE  CAUGHT  BREAKING  INTO  HIS  VEHICLE)  EARLY  YESTERDAY  (MONDAY)   MORNING.     THE  3:15  A.M.  ATTEMPTED  BURGLARY  TOOK  PLACE  ON   PLEASANT  VALLEY  ROAD.       ANYONE  WITH  ANY  INFORMATION  ABOUT  THIS  INCIDENT  IS  ENCOURAGED  TO  CONTACT  THE  SANTA  CRUZ  COUNTY  SHERIFF’S  DEPARTMENT.

WVILLE AUTO THEFT update - 05/15/12 06:45 S.S.

2  PEOPLE  WERE  ARRESTED  YESTERDAY  MORNING,  IN  CONNECTION  WITH  AN  AUTO  BURGLARY.     34  YEAR-OLD  CESAR  GARCIA,   AND  28  YEAR-OLD  MONIQUE  ZAMORA, WERE  FOUND  (WITH  THE  STOLEN  ITEMS)  A  SHORT  TIME  AFTER  THE  4  A.M.  BURGLARY  (ON  THE  700  BLOCK  OF  HILL  AVENUE IN   WATSONVILLE).     BOTH  GARCIA AND  ZAMORA FACES  CHARGES  OF  POSSESSION  OF  STOLEN  PROPERTY.

m.h. motorcycle thefts 05/13/12 8p.m. TDH

2-people have been arrested in morgan hill, in connection with a series of motorcycle thefts.  33-year-old Gilroy resident Mario Santiago was arrested after returning to his apartment complex on the 1-hundred block of la crosse drive on a stolen motorcycle.  Morgan hill police officers were already at the complex investigating another stolen motorcycle.  After a brief chase, Santiago was apprehended and was later booked into santa clara county jail.  42-year-old morgan hill resident douglas york was also linked to the theft of at least 1 of the motorcycles.  He was also arrested for possession and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
