AN  APPEALS  COURT  HAS  RULED  AGAINST  SOME  ENVIRONMENTAL  GROUPS,  AND  BACKED  A  NEARLY  400  MEGAWATT  SOLAR  FARM  IN  SAN  BENITO  COUNTY.    THIS  DECISION  SHOULD  PAVE  THE  WAY  FOR  THE  OWNERS  TO  PROCEED  WITH  THEIR  PLANS  IN  THE  PANOCHE  VALLEY.     THE  NEXT  STEP  IS  FOR  THE  OWNERS  TO  OBTAIN  A  POWER  PURCHASE AGREEMENT.

A  BEACH ADVISORY  HAS  BEEN  POSTED  AT  LOVERS  POINT  BEACH IN  PACIFIC  GROVE  DUE  TO  HIGH  LEVELS  OF  BACTERIA.    PEOPLE  ARE  ENCOURAGED  NOT TO  SWIM  IN  THE  OCEAN  WATERS  OFF  LOVERS  POINT.    THOSE  ADVISORY  SIGNS  ARE  EXPECTED  TO  REMAIN  POSTED  UNTIL  THE  LEVELS  OF  BACTERIA  RETURN  TO  THOSE  THAT  ARE  SAFE  FOR  HUMANS.

ROGGE STREET FIRE - 06/26/13 07:55 S.S.

THE  CAUSE  OF  YESTERDAY  MORNING’S  WATSONVILLE HOUSE  FIRE  HAS  YET  TO  BE  DETERMINED.   6  PEOPLE  WERE  DISPLACED  FROM  THEIR  ROGGE  STREET HOME,  WHEN  THE BLAZE  BROKE  OUT  AROUND  4:30  A-M.     THE  SMOLDERING  FIRE  WAS  FOUND  BURNING  IN  THE ATTIC  INSULATION.

SANTA CRUZ-BASED PLANTRONICS HAS RECEIVED THE 2013 AMERICAN TECHNOLOGY AWARD. THEIR VOYAGER LEGEND U-C HEADSET CONNECTS TO A LAPTOP, TABLET, OR MOBILE PHONE VIA BLUETOOTH (OR U-S-B).      SMART SENSOR TECHNOLOGY ALLOWS THE USER  TO “ANSWER” OR “IGNORE” INCOMING CALLS VIA  VOICE COMMANDS.  THE DEVICE ALSO GIVES CONNECTION STATUS,  BATTERY LEVEL, AND ANNOUNCES CALLER NAMES.      THE AWARD  WAS GIVEN  IN THE CONSUMER ELECTRONICS  CATEGORY.

WOMAN ESCAPES FROM SC JAIL - 06/25/13B 17:00 d

21 YEAR OLD NATASHA ROSE RUKA ESCAPED FROM THE MINIMUM SECURITY  JAIL ON BLAINE STREET IN SANTA CRUZ SHORTLY BEFORE ONE A-M TODAY.     RUKA WAS ACCOUNTED FOR AT THE 11 P-M BED- CHECK BUT MISSING AT 1 A-M.      ACCORDING TO THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE,   MINIMUM SECURITY INMATES MAYBE LESS SCRUTINIZED,  BECAUSE THEY ARE CONSIDERED A LOWER THREAT TO THE PUBLIC.

RUKA WAS CONVICTED OF IDENTITY THEFT AND CREDIT CARD FRAUD.     SHE HAS 77 DAYS LEFT ON HER SENTENCE.
