40th SC Clam Chowder Cook-Off 01-24-21 22:53 S.S.

The 40th Annual Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook-Off has been re-imagined into a Restaurant Week in February, where local chefs can work in their own kitchens....and people can purchase "Tasting Flights" featuring 6 - 12 restaurants. Those people then get to vote on Best Boston Clam Chowder and Best Santa Cruz Clam Chowder, People's Choice. Local chef's need to register to compete by January 31st. EVACUATION WARNINGS ISSUED FOR TUES NIGHT INTO WED.

‼️EVACUATION WARNING NOW IN PLACE‼️

With the upcoming atmospheric river and potential for debris flow, areas of the San Lorenzo Valley are now under evacuation warning.

Late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning we are expecting a wind and heavy rain event. The National Weather Service is expecting anywhere from 8-12 inches over the course of the storm.

An evacuation warning means these individuals need to be prepared to leave immediately with a go bag and planned evacuation route. Based on the expected weather we are anticipating evacuation orders to follow within the next 24 hours, so please plan accordingly.

Strong winds are expected ahead of the heavy rains. Please plan ahead to give yourself time to get to your evacuation destination safely considering there is a possibility of downed trees and power lines.

4 Teens Arrested 01-24-21 10:56 S.S.

4 teenagers have been arrested in connection for committing an Attempted Murder with a gang enhancement. That after the teens are believed to have shot a 34 year-old Santa Cruz man. The 3:15 p.m. Friday shooting took place near the intersection of Hagemann and Soquel Avenue. Anyone with information about the shooting, the teens, or the black sedan they were in at the time, is encouraged to contact the Santa Cruz Police Department.

Soquel Fatal Acc 01-24-21 10:52 S.S.

A 57 year-old Soquel man died Saturday night. That after he ran his motorized bicycle into a median in Rio Del Mar at about 30 miles per hour. The just before 6 p.m. accident occurred on Sumner Avenue just north of Dolphin Drive.

Roads And Trails Closed 01-24-21 08:07 S.S.

Due to the likelihood of rockslides, landslides and issues with falling trees, the roads and trails around the edge of the Dolan Fire will remain closed until at least May 21st of this year.

Along with that, planned tree work has led to a 4-day closure of Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. That temporary closure is scheduled to take place from the 25th to the 29th. For more nformation people can check the point Lobis website or call the Point Lobos Kiosk between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at (831) 624-4909.
