Gilroy Store Robbed, 3-arrested 06/05/11 6:45p.m. TDH

3-people were arrested in Gilroy early Sunday morning, for burglarizing an electronics store.  Gilroy police officers responded to the sony outlet store on leavesly road, and found 2-suspects.  1-was arrested near the scene, and the 2nd was taken into custody after officers located the car he had gotten into.  The driver of that vehicle was also arrested, and all 3-were booked into san jose main jail.   Stolen electronics from the store were recovered.

Man electrocuted in Salinas 06/05/11 6:45p.m. TDH

A Salinas man was electrocuted on Saturday, as he was covering his roof with a tarp. The man slipped, and touched the weather vein, which is believed to have been charged by a nearby electrical box. The incident occurred on the 1-hundred block of teresa way.   The victim was airlifted to a bay-area hospital to be treated.

1-dead in car wreck 06/05/11 6:45p.m. TDH

A Watsonville man was pronounced dead at the scene of a car wreck in Monterey county on Sunday.   The 21-year-old man struck a tree in the las lomas area, after his vehicle went off the road on hall road, east of elkhorn road.   No other injuries were reported.  The cause of the just-after-7a.m. crash is under investigation.

Events Rained Out 06/05/11 6:45p.m. TDH

Rain forced a couple of events around santa cruz county to be cancelled over the weekend.  The Strawberry Festival fundraiser to benefit the walnut avenue women’s center has been rescheduled for this Friday, the 11th.  The woof to woof fundraiser in scotts valley was also cancelled on Saturday.  The dog-friendly fundraiser for the vista center for the blind and visually impaired, was set to be held despite the bad forecast, but heavy rain forced organizers to reconsider.   The event is yet to be rescheduled.

W.V. SCHOOL ROBBERIES 06/03/11 4:30p.m. TDH

A SERIES OF ROBBERIES AROUND WATSONVILLE IN RECENT MONTHS TOOK A TURN TODAY, AS AUTHORITIES ANNOUNCED TODAY THE ARRESTS OF SOME OF THE SUSPECTS.   IN ADDITION TO SEVERAL BUSINESSES BEING ROBBED, WATSONVILLE POLICE HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATING 9-BURGLARIES FROM AREA SCHOOLS, THAT TOOK PLACE OVER THE LAST 2-MONTHS.  AUTHORITIES ANNOUNCED THAT THEY ARRESTED 27-YEAR-OLD WATSONVILLE RESIDENT RICKY FAUSTINO SANTOS FOR ALLEGEDLY COMMITTING 8-OF-THE ROBBERIES. ALL OF THOSE INCIDENTS WERE AT SCHOOLS IN THE PAJARO VALLEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT.   HOWEVER, DESPITE THE ARREST, ANOTHER ROBBERY WAS REPORTED THIS MORNING, WHEN A LAPTOP WAS REPORTED MISSING FROM RADCLIFF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.  ADDITIONALLY, 2-PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED FOR BURGLARIZING A SCHOOL IN SOQUEL ON WEDNESDAY.
