A NEW FARMERS MARKET WILL OPEN IN SALINAS THIS WEEKEND. THE MARKET WILL BE HELD EVERY SATURDAY AT NORTHRIDGE MALL.    VENDORS WILL BE LOCATED IN THE PARKING LOT BETWEEN FOREVER 21 AND CENTURY 14 THEATER FROM 9 AM TO 1 PM.    THE MARKET WILL BE HELD THROUGH NOVEMBER.

SANTA CRUZ RESIDENTS HAVE REPORTED SEEING A MOUNTAIN LION NEAR NEARY LAGOON TUESDAY AFTERNOON.    OFFICIALS SAY THE ANIMAL WAS SIGHTED AT THE END OF BLACKBURN STREET.     POLICE ADVISE RESIDENTS IN THE AREA TO USE CAUTION AND SECURE PETS AND CHILDREN.    FISH AND WILDLIFE OFFICALS ARE FOLLOWING UP ON THE REPORT.

THE SANTA CRUZ HIKER WHO WENT MISSING LAST WEEK HAS BEEN FOUND DEAD.    46-YEAR-OLD GREGORY MUCK LEFT FOR A HIKE IN KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARK AUGUST 10TH.     SEARCH TEAMS BEGAN LOOKING FOR MUCK WHEN HIS WIFE REPORTED HIM MISSING EIGHT DAYS LATER.   THE SEARCH WAS SUSPENDED YESTERDAY (WED) AFTER A BODY WAS FOUND NEAR MOUNT GARDINER.    THE BODY WAS CONFIRMED AS BELONGING TO MUCK LAST NIGHT.

THE RESULTS ARE IN ON WHAT INFORMATION A CYBER-ATTACK (LAST SPRING) MAY HAVE GARNERED. THE FOCUS OF THE ATTACK WAS THE COMPANY THAT RUNS WATSONVILLE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL, AND HACKERS REPORTEDLY DID NOT GET ANY MEDICAL OR CREDIT CARD RECORDS, ALTHOUGH IT DID BYPASS THE SECURITY SYSTEM AND GET PATIENTS’ NAMES, ADDRESSES, BIRTHDATES, AND PHONE AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS. COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEMS IS ONE OF THE LARGEST HOSPITAL GROUPS IN THE U-S.

A 42 YEAR-OLD WOMAN HAS PLEADED “NO CONTEST” TO A NUMBER OF CHARGES, INCLUDING ELDER ABUSE AND TAX FRAUD. DAISY YOLANDA RAMIREZ ALSO PLEADED “NO CONTEST” TO CHARGES OF FAILING TO FILE TAX RETURNS AND FRAUDULENTLY COLLECTING UNEMPLOYMENT FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. RAMIREZ IS SCHEDULED TO RETURN TO A MONTEREY COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT ROOM TO BE SENTENCED OCTOBER 21ST .
